| Buoni i risultati per Cicrespi dopo l’acquisizione di Termostabile Packaging.
E ora la società che produce/commercializza un’ampia gamma di soluzioni e sistemi integrati per la marcatura, l’etichettatura autoadesiva, il controllo qualità, l’automazione, alza il tiro e punta a diventare partner globale per le più diverse esigenze applicative.
Andare oltre
Per la Cicrespi SpA il 2000 è stato l’anno dei cambiamenti. Consolidato il rapporto storico di collaborazione con Marconi Data Systems, relativo alla commercializzazione dei prodotti per la codifica e marcatura a getto di inchiostro e laser a marchio VideoJet, e Marsh, è entrata, infatti, nel settore della costruzione di sistemi di etichettatura acquisendo la Termostabile Packaging. Una scelta coraggiosa, mirata ad assicurare nuove prospettive di sviluppo e nuove ragioni di differenziazione rispetto ad altre realtà di settore e, che, a distanza di poco più di un anno, sta già dando interessanti ritorni. La conferma ci viene da Alfio Gianatti, direttore commerciale della società, che così commenta: «Lo scorso esercizio si è chiuso in positivo per Cicrespi, con un fatturato globale che ha raggiunto i 60 miliardi. In particolare il settore codifica e marcatura ha fatto registrare nel 2000 un incremento del 15% sul 1999, ma anche il settore etichettatura, al primo anno dopo l’acquisizione della Termostabile Packaging, e senza una rete di vendita dedicata, è andato in modo più che soddisfacente. La prima parte del 2001 è stata molto vivace, mentre nel secondo semestre avvertiamo un leggero rallentamento nella domanda, anche per fattori esterni che portano a posticipare gli investimenti (Tremonti bis, Ndr.). Nel complesso stimiamo una crescita intorno al 5%, a consolidamento dei risultati raggiunti. L’etichettatura dovrebbe chiudere l’anno in corso con un fatturato di circa 13 miliardi, in linea con le più ottimistiche previsioni, mentre la codifica e marcatura dovrebbe arrivare a 20 miliardi, a cui sono da aggiungere circa 7 miliardi dei sistemi per la stampa a caldo e macchine per la stampa a tampone».
Due in uno
Spesso genericamente si parla in modo indifferenziato del settore etichettatura e di quello della codifica e marcatura, omologandoli e trascurando di rilevare le profonde differenze “culturali” che caratterizzano i due ambiti industriali. «La codifica e marcatura – ci dice Gianatti - di fatto vive fondamentalmente di prodotti a scaffale e di macchine standard intorno alle quali, su richiesta, si pongono a corredo alcuni dispositivi ausiliari, come i sistemi di lettura automatica e di interfacciamento, che richiedono un servizio di supporto in termini di progettazione e sviluppo software. Nel caso dell’etichettatura industriale è necessario, invece, fare i conti con una maggiore serie di variabili - forma del contenitore e dell’etichetta, tecnologia dei materiali e degli adesivi, caratteristiche della linea di confezionamento - che sono di complessa interpretazione e gestione e che necessitano di creatività, di capacità progettuali e produttive. Questo fa sì che siano necessarie, in entrambi i casi, competenze specifiche e, di conseguenza, organizzazioni di vendita mirate, capaci di interfacciarsi tra loro. E questo è tanto più vero se si considera che Termostabile, nonostante sia focalizzata sulla progettazione e produzione di sistemi di etichettatura e di prodotti speciali, ha nel nostro intento anche il compito di svolgere industrializzazione di prodotto e di fare, quindi, lavoro di engineering. Per noi, infatti, il vero valore che un’azienda può dare non è legato al prodotto/servizio che è in grado di fornire in un determinato momento, ma è da ricondurre alla complessità della sua offerta, alla capacità di rispondere nel tempo alle diverse esigenze del cliente. È per questo che l’acquisizione della Termostabile, e delle sue risorse umane, ha dato a tutti noi nuovi stimoli a crescere. E’ stata un momento di passaggio strategico, che apre a nuovi sviluppi futuri: un investimento che qualifica la Cicrespi e che, in un’ottica di partnership con i clienti, ne fa un’azienda in grado di trasferisce sul mercato valore, ovvero conoscenze e competenze, soluzioni competitive».

Good results for Cicrespi after the buy-up of Termostabile Packaging. And now the company that produces/trades a broad range of integrated solutions and systems for marking, selfadhesive labeling, quality control and automation aims at becoming a global partner for the most varied applicative needs.
Going beyond
For Cicrespi SpA the year 2000 was the year of changes. Now having consolidated its time-honoured co-working with Marconi Data Systems as regards the trading of products for coding and inkjet and laser marking under the VideoJet and Marsh brands, Cicrespi has in fact entered into the labeling system construction sector with its purchase of Termostabile Packaging. A brave choice, aimed at ensuring new development prospects and an even greater range of products and services compared to other concerns in the sector and that, just more than a year on, is already showing interesting returns. The confirmation comes from Alfio Gianatti, commercial director of the company, who thus comments: «The last financial year closed positively for Cicrespi with an overall turnover that reached 60 billion. In particular in the year 2000 the coding and marking sector put in an increase of 15% on 1999, but the labeling sector, in its first year after the buy-up of Termostabile Packaging and without a dedicated sales network, also put in a more than satisfactory run. The first half of 2001 was seen to be very lively, while in the second part of the year we noted a slight slowdown in demand, also due to external factors that have led to a postponement of investments (the new Tremonti law, Ed.). Overall we estimate a growth at around 5%, consolidating the results attained. Labeling should close the current year with a turnover of around 13 billion, in line with the most optimistic forecasts, while coding and marking should reach 20 billion, to which one should add the around 7 billion systems for hot printing and pad printing machines».
Two in one
The coding and marking sectors are often generally spoken of as the same sector, neglecting the deep “cultural” differences that feature in the two industrial areas. «Coding and marking - Gianatti tells us - basically lives on off-the-shelf products and standard machines around which you can add series of auxiliary devices, such as automatic scanning and interfacing devices, that require a support service, ie for software design and development. In the case of industrial labeling one though needs to face a greater series of variables - container and label shape, materials and adhesive technology, specific packaging line characteristics - that are complex to interpret and run and that require creativity, design and production capability. This means that in both instances one needs specific skills, and consequently a well-targeted sales organisation capable of interfacing with the same. And this is all the more true if one considers that Termostabile, despite the fact it is focused on design and production of labeling and special product systems, in our intent should also carry out product industrialisation and hence do engineering work. In actual fact for us the true value that the company can give is not linked to the product/service that is capable of supplying in a given moment, it is to be put down to the complexity of its offer, to its capacity to respond in time to the customer’s various needs. This is why the purchase of Termostabile and its human resources has been a great stimulus to growth for us all. It was a strategic moment, that opens up to new future developments: an investment that qualifies Cicrespi and that, with an eye to customer partnerships, turns it into a company capable of transfering value onto the market, or that is knowhow, skills and competitive solutions».

| Adesivi per ogni applicazione
Sempre alla ricerca di nuove soluzioni, Sovereign Speciality Chemicals è nota a livello mondiale per la produzione di adesivi, sigillanti e rivestimenti.
Le continue evoluzioni della gamma Primaseal, destinata all’imballaggio flessibile, hanno portato alla messa a punto di saldanti a freddo con caratteristiche di pelabilità e richiudibilità, per uso medicale e sintetici.
Gli adesivi per laminazione Primabond, con o senza solvente, coprono diverse applicazioni, dalle formulazioni sterilizzabili a quelle resistenti ai prodotti chimici o per usi alimentari.
Particolarmente interessanti i sistemi senza solvente “Primabond multipack”, che offrono estrema flessibilità di utilizzo permettendo al trasformatore di migliorare le prestazioni dell’adesivo agendo sulla polimerizzazione, senza dover cambiare i singoli componenti. E ancora gli adesivi Primalam e Avadyne, per la trasformazione di film; Primacoat, rivestimenti a base acqua in versione antiscivolo o resistente al calore; Primamelt e Proxmelt, per hot melt ed extrusion coating, che essendo realizzati con resine non volatili permettono di non utilizzare i tradizionali sistemi di essiccazione. Tra le formulazioni speciali ricordiamo i rivestimenti Proxseal e Latiseal, quest’ultimo prodotto con la tecnica della dispersione. Entrambi sono ideali per l’imballaggio alimentare, medicale, ma anche per il confezionamento skin e blister o con foglia di alluminio.

Adhesives for all applications
Ever seeking new solutions, Sovereign Speciality Chemicals is known at world level for its production of adhesives, seals and coatings.
The ongoing evolution of its Primaseal range for flexible packaging has led to the devising of peal and re-seal, medical and synthetic cold seals.
The Primabond lamination adhesives, with or without solvents, cover a series of applications, from sterilizable formulations to those resistant to chemical and for use with foodstuffs.
Particularly interesting the “Primabond multipack” solventless systems, that offer extreme flexibility of use, enabling the converter to improve the performance of the adhesive by changing the curative without the needing to change the adhesive component.
The company also produces Primalam and Avadyne adhesives for the film converting industry; Primacoat, antislip or heatresistant waterbased coatings; Primamelt and Proxmelt for hot melt and extrusion coating, that being made with non volatile resins enable the use of traditional drying systems.

Quest’anno il produttore A.L.Tech. – Advanced Labelling Technologies - compie dieci anni. Fondata nel 1991, da sempre progetta, costruisce e distribuisce sistemi di etichettatura in autoadesivo e di identificazione dei materiali mediante etichette autoadesive, puntando alla qualità dell’offerta e alla cura del servizio. Ten years in labeling
This year A.L.Tech. is ten years old. Established in 1991, A.L.Tech. – Advanced Labelling Technologies, devises, manufactures and distributes self-adhesive labelling and material identification systems, constantly aiming to enhance the quality of its products and services. Its wide range encompasses: the self-adhesive ALstep (low cost) and ALritma (hi-tech) labelling heads; the ALline linear systems, suitable for front/back and wrap-around labelling of jars, cans and bottles; the ALprint SATO label barcode printers traded in the ALprint family, supplied with the necessary Software packages; the ALcode real time print/apply units for labelling boxes, pallets and bundles; the ALsleeve heatshrink sleeve application system for tamper evidencing, body decoration and multipack. ALmark is, in short, a line of coding/marking machines for direct printing on materials used for packaging (film, paper, board). | Palettizzatore con robot antropomorfo
Compatto, flessibile ed efficiente, Actipal è un’unità di palettizzazione con robot antropomorfo, presentata in occasione di Converflex, frutto della collaborazione tra Castaldini e ABB Flexible Automation. «Si tratta della prima volta - spiega Graziano Galletti, direttore tecnico Castaldini - che nel settore delle macchine automatiche per il cartone ondulato viene utilizzato un braccio antropomorfo. A differenza delle pinze tradizionali che prelevano il prodotto dall’alto, la speciale pinza brevettata Master Hand, appositamente studiata per questo settore, è in grado di prelevare le mazzette di cartone sostenendole dal basso e di pareggiarle perfettamente simulando ciò che un tempo faceva a mano l’uomo. In questo modo, non si crea una luce tra una mazzetta e l’altra, assicurando un’ottima palettizzazione, e non si corre il rischio di perdere pezzi durante il trasporto». Actipal, che rappresenta una soluzione vantaggiosa in caso di spazi limitati, raggiunge una velocità di 10 mazzette/min, anche se Castaldini conta di realizzare al più presto una versione con velocità di 20 mazzette/min. Grazie all’accordo raggiunto con ABB Flexible Automation, Castaldini diventa di fatto un suo applicatore di sistema nel settore del cartone ondulato, trasformandosi così in un importante referente anche per i clienti ABB.
Palletization with anthropomorphic robot
Compact, flexible, efficient. Actipal is a palletization unit with anthropomorphic robot, presented at Converflex, the result of co-working between Castaldini and ABB Flexible Automation. As Castaldini technical director Graziano Galletti explained «For the first time an anthropomorphic arm has been used in the sector of automatic machines for corrugated cardboard. As opposed to traditional grippers, the special gripper Master Hand (patented), especially devised for this sector, is able to pick up the cardboard rolls from underneath and balance them out perfectly, simulating what at one time was done by human hand. Thus no space is left between one roll and the other, ensuring an optimal palletization that does not run the risk of losing pieces during transport». Actipal, that offers the great advantages for operating in limited space, achieves speeds of 10 rolls/minute; the company has an even faster version that can do 20 rolls/minute. Thanks to an agreement reached with ABB Flexible Automation, Castaldini, has in fact become one of its system applicators in the corrugated cardboard segment, and is also transforming itself into an important reference for ABB’s customers.
| Flexo: misurazione del punto
FlexoDot, progettato e realizzato dalla britannica Centurfax (rappresentata in Italia da I&C Idea & Comunicazione), è un sistema portatile di riconoscimento delle superfici, che consente la misurazione del punto su ogni tipo di materiale per la stampa flessografica. Evoluzione di un precedente strumento (CCDot Digital), FlexoDot garantisce inedite funzioni di controllo della qualità delle immagini, come la lettura della gamma tonale con una tolleranza di errore di +/-1% e l’autobilanciamento automatico tramite la semplice pressione di un tasto (che evita il ricorso a tacche di calibrazione e consente di non ricalibrare lo strumento per aree divefferenti). Oltre alla facilità d’uso e di trasporto (non necessita di tavolo luminoso), FlexoDot offre ulteriori innumerevoli vantaggi, tra cui lettura in riflessione, la visione diretta dell’area selezionata, ridotte esigenze di manutenzione ed eliminazione delle letture errate. Funziona su lastre con base metallica, non riflette la luce sulla lastre tipo “capped” ed è in grado di leggere ogni parte della lastra grazie al design ergonomico. Lo strumento può essere connesso direttamente a PC o a Mac, viene alimentato a batteria (ma si collega anche in rete) ed effettua più di 1.500 letture con una carica.
Flexo: dot measurement
FlexoDot, designed and made by the UK company Centurfax (represented in Italy by I&C Idea & Comunicazione), is a portable surface recognition system, that enables dot measurement on all types of flexographic print material. The evolution of a preceding tool (CCDot Digital), FlexoDot guarantees hitherto unseen control functions on image quality, such as the reading of the range of hue with an error tolerance of +/-1% and an automatic self-balancing by simply touching a key (that avoids having to resort to calibration notches and enables the recalibration of the tool for different areas). As well as being easy to use and to transport (no need for light-boxes), FlexoDot offers innumerable other advantages, such as reflection reading, the direct display of the selected area, reduced maintenance needs and elimination of erroneous readings. It functions on metallic based plates, does not reflect light on the “capped” type plates and can read all parts of the plate thanks to its ergonomic design. The tool can be directly PC or Mac connected, is battery powered (but it can also be network linked) and carries out over 1,500 scannings before requiring a recharge.
| Etichettatura di qualità
Etipack ha messo a punto il Sistema 1 M, studiato per l’etichettatura ad alta velocità di flaconi cilindrici e adatto per il settore farmaceutico. Offre massima affidabilità nell’etichettatura e sovrastampa, grazie anche a un dispositivo che prevede l’espulsione automatica dei prodotti non idonei. 1 M è dotato di controlli e allarmi, quali fine bobina, strappo della carta di supporto, carico minimo e massimo dei prodotti. Il sistema assicura inoltre la massima facilità d’intervento dell’operatore, grazie a un display elettronico che segnala gli stati della macchina. 1 M utilizza l’etichettatrice Tecnos, modello di punta di Etipack. Il sistema raggiunge i 18.000 flaconi/h. Nel campo del print & apply, invece, Etipack propone Drinjet: un soffio d’aria e l’etichetta autoadesiva “vola” a identificare l’imballo giunto a fine linea. Cuore del sistema è una stampante termica con 8 punti/mm lineare di risoluzione e larghezza stampa di 105 mm. Drinjet è un insieme compatto di moduli, che comprende tutte le funzioni per la realizzazione e stampa dell’etichetta. Ciò avviene collegando Drinjet a un PC in ambiente Windows con DG10, un software di immediato utilizzo per l’operatore. Drinjet applica sempre l’ultima etichetta stampata.
Quality labeling
Etipack has come up with its Sistema 1 M, devised for the high-speed labeling of cylindrical bottles and suited for the pharmaceutical sector. The new system offers maximum reliability in labeling and overprinting, thanks also to a device that sees to the automatic expulsion of unsuitable products. Sistema 1 M is fitted with controls and alarms, like end of reel, ripping of backing, min and max product load, etc. The system also ensures easy operator intervention thanks to an electronic machine state display. The 1 M uses a Tecnos labeler that has pride of place in the Etipack range. The system attains 18,000 bottles/h.
In the field of print & apply n turn Etipack offers Drinjet: a burst of air and the selfadhesive label flies off and identifies the packaging item at the end of line. At the centre of the system a thermal printer with 8 dots/mm per line resolution and a print breadth of 105 mm. Drinjet is a compact combination of modules that includes all the functions for making and printing labels. This comes about connecting Drinjet to a PC in Windows environment with DG10, a software enabling immediate use by the operator. Drinjet always applies the last label printed.

Gli oltre 1.000 impianti (e gli oltre 9.000 formati) consegnati dal 1969 rappresentano un traguardo significativo per Partena SpA - commercializzata in Italia da G.B Gnudi Bruno SpA - ribadendone tra l’altro la mission nel segmento del blister. Le esperienze maturate sul campo, la costante attenzione alle evoluzioni dei materiali, il lavoro in team con il cliente, le migliaia di soluzioni realizzate hanno consentito un ulteriore salto in avanti nei sistemi di confezionamento per blister. Con il modello “MK”, Partena conferma inoltre la propria cultura nella costruzione di “macchine in piano”, associata alla realizzazione di una struttura a balconata, modulata e integrata negli impianti e nelle tecnologie. Per flessibilità, controllo del processo e innovazione tecnologica, il modello è destinato all’alta gamma ed è quindi in grado di rispondere alle esigenze più spinte di una clientela attenta alle evoluzione del mercato internazionale.

System for packaging blisters
The over 1,000 systems (and over 9,000 formats) delivered since 1969 stand as an important achievement for Partena SpA - whose products traded in Italy by G.B. Gnudi Bruno SpA - confirming among other things the company’s mission in the blister segment. The experience built up in the field, the constant attention to the developments in materials, teamwork with the customer, the thousands of solutions made have enabled Partena to achieve greater progress in blister packing systems. With its “MK” model. Partena also confirms its approach to building “machines on the flat”, featuring machines with modular cantilevered design, integrated systems and technology. | L’imbottigliamento secondo Krones
Oltre alla storica produzione di macchine per l’imbottigliamento, Krones si presenta al Drinktec Interbrau con numerose novità relative ai sistemi di ispezione, automazione, etichettatura e lavaggio nonché numerose soluzioni software. Le macchine per l’imbottigliamento sono studiate su misura per soddisfare le esigenze dei diversi prodotti (birra, analcolici, succhi, acqua minerale, ecc.). La tecnica di ispezione è stata ulteriormente affinata e integrata da nuove applicazioni: le telecamere ad alta risoluzione, disponibili a colori o in bianco e nero, consentono di ottenere alta precisione di controllo sia per i prodotti, sia per i loro recipienti. Per quanto riguarda l’etichettatura, Krones propone un’etichettatrice di nuova concezione che consente di combinare l’etichettatura a umido con quella autoadesiva. Inoltre, la società tedesca ha sviluppato un nuovo dispositivo per l’applicazione di etichette autoadesive, che raggiunge una velocità di 60.000 bottiglie/h. Su una nuova lavabottiglie, l’azienda ha perfezionato il procedimento di lavaggio, modificando la conduzione della lisciva e aumentando l’efficacia della rimozione delle etichette, e ha provveduto al lavaggio automatico dell’area della testata della macchina stessa. La Spiragrip, utilizzata per il lavaggio di bottiglie di PET, è ora adatta anche al trattamento di bottiglie di vetro. In fiera viene presentata ufficialmente anche Syskron, filiale Krones di recente fondazione (batch process engineering, automazione ed elaborazione dati).
Bottling according to Krones
Along with its time-honoured production of bottling machines, Krones will be at Drinktec Interbrau with numerous new features regarding inspection, automation, labeling and washing systems as well as numerous software solutions. Their bottling machines have been designed to satisfy the needs of a variety of products (beer, soft drinks, juices, mineral water, etc.) while their inspection technology has been further enhanced and supplemented by new applications, aboveall high resolution cameras, available in monochrome and color, ensuring precision control of both the product and container. On the labeling front, Krones offers a new concept labeling machines that enables the combination of wet-glue and selfadhesive labeling. The German company will also be presenting a new device for applying selfadhesive labels that reaches a speed of 60,000 bottles/h. Other features include the perfection of washing procedures on a new bottle washing machine, altering the caustic routing and increasing the effectiveness of label removal, and has seen to the automatic washing of the head area of the machine itself. The Spiragrip, already familiar in its role as a PET bottle washer, is now also suitable for handling glass bottles. The newly founded Krones subsidiary Syskron (batch process engineering, automation and data processing) will also be premiered at the fair.
| Usato garantito, ma non solo...
Nata come società dedita alla commercializzazione di macchine da stampa usate, revisionate e garantite, Eurograf negli ultimi tre anni ha rivolto l’attenzione al settore cartotecnico, creandosi una nuova nicchia di mercato. Converflex 2001, in particolare, ha segnato uno dei passi più significativi per l’azienda milanese: «Siamo nati nell’88 come venditori di macchine per la stampa - spiega Sandro Ambrosi, amministratore unico Eurograf - ma, poiché il settore era già ben presidiato, ci siamo ritagliati una nicchia particolare, quella delle macchine Heidelberg revisionate e garantite. In occasione di Converflex ‘98 abbiamo compiuto una prima svolta, decidendo di muoverci anche nel settore della cartotecnica, attraverso la vendita di piega incolla, delle autoplatine della giapponese Sanwa e dei volta pila della tedesca Krifft & Zipsner. Fino ad arrivare allo scorso giugno, con la proposta in fiera di alcune novità». L’azienda ha infatti sviluppato, appositamente per la platina automatica giapponese Sanwa, in collaborazione con un esperto del settore, un sistema di stampa oro a caldo che aggiunge flessibilità alla macchina. Inoltre ha presentato dei dispositivi di logistica pensati appositamente per le macchine da stampa cartotecnica, che hanno bisogno di sistemi di alimentazione e scarico continuo della pila di entrata e di uscita. «Nei prossimi anni - sostiene Ambrosi - gli stampatori potranno cogliere nuove opportunità di sviluppo interessandosi anche di lavorazioni cartotecniche. Chi avrà infatti le capacità e le risorse per farlo potrà conferire maggiore valore aggiunto allo stampato, diventando più competitivi sul mercato. Dal ‘98, infatti, abbiamo prevalentemente venduto le nostre macchine agli stampatori, non a cartotecniche tradizionali che, dietro nostro suggerimento, si sono mossi con successo in questo settore».
Guaranteed used machines, but not only...
Set up as a company dedicated to selling used, overhauled and guaranteed printing machines, over the past three years Eurograf has turned its attention to the paper converting industry, carving out a new niche in the market. Converflex 2001, in particular, marks one of the most significant milestones for this Milan-based company: «We were set up in 1988 as sellers of printing machines - explains Sandro Ambrosi, Sole Managing Director of Eurograf - but, since the sector was already full, we carved out a special niche for ourselves: that of overhauled Heidelberg machines with warranty. At Converflex ‘98 we took the first step in a different direction, deciding to become involved also in the paper converting sector, via the sale of fold & glue machines and automatic platens produced by Sanwa of Japan and pile-turner from Krifft & Zipsner of Germany. Until last June with the proposal of several novelties at the fair». In fact, the company has developed, in cooperation with an expert in the sector, a hot gold printing system specifically for the Japanese Sanwa automatic platen to add flexibility to the machine. It also presented some logistic devices designed especially for paper converting machines that require continuous infeed and unloading systems for the feed and delivery piles. «Over the next few years - reckons Ambrosi - printers will be able to exploit new opportunities for growth, becoming interested also in paper converting processes. Those with the skill and resources to do so will give their printed matter added value, thus becoming more competitive on the market. In fact, since 1998, we’ve mostly sold our machines to printers, not to traditional converters who, with our encouragement, have now started to gain success».
| Codificatori per l’ortofrutta
Il codificatore SmartDate a trasferimento termico di Markem, grazie alla sua affidabilità, economia di gestione e qualità di stampa, è utilizzato da numerosi operatori del settore ortofrutticolo. La famiglia SmartDate - disponibile nelle versioni intermittente e continua - raggiunge una velocità di stampa di 1÷1,5 m/s, con bobine di nastro di lunghezza fra 600 e 900 m, caratteristica che permette di cambiare con minore frequenza il nastro, riducendo i tempi di fermo macchina.
SmartDate consente la stampa di date e codici informativi di produzione con un’alta qualità di stampa, e, grazie all’elevata risoluzione grafica (300 dpi), può operare su un’area compresa fra 53x74 e 107x70 mm. Può essere utilizzato per codici a barre e grafica varia, su una vasta gamma di substrati compresi film flessibile, etichette e astucci. Inoltre, gli SmartDate possono essere inseriti direttamente sulle linee di confezionamento, programmando la tipologia di codifica in funzione delle diverse necessità. Facile da installare, può essere affiancato a codificatori esistenti e il settaggio automatico della data e dell’ora assicura l’integrità dei codici e la completa tracciabilità di prodotto.
La serie SmartDate dispone di tre diversi dispositivi di risparmio nastro, che aumentano la flessibilità e l’efficienza del sistema: RRS (Radial Ribbon Save), APS (Advanced Print System) e IS (Interlaced System). Ricordiamo che la vasta gamma di soluzioni Markem comprende, oltre ai codificatori SmartDate, i sistemi di stampa e applicazione etichette per cartoni e pallet serie Cimjet e Cimpak, i codificatori a getto di resina termoplastica serie 5000 (per stampare direttamente su cartoni) e i codificatori a base di resina termoplastica per stampa in linea serie “touch-dry”. Coders for market garden produce
Markem’s SmartDate heat transfer printer, thanks to its reliability, economical running and print quality, is used by numerous operators in the market garden produce sector. The SmartDate family - also available in the intermittent and continuous versions - reach a print speed of 1÷1.5 m/s, with a tape reel 600 and 900 metres long, feature that leads to less tape changes, reducing machine down time. SmartDate enables the print of production info data and codes with high print quality, and thanks to its high graphic resolution (300 dpi), can operate over an area from 53x74 to 107x70 mm. The device can create a whole series of barcodes and graphics, on a vast range of substrates including flexible film, labels, and boxes. As well as that the SmartDates can be directly inserted in the packaging line, programming the type of coding depending on the different needs. Easy to install, SmartDate can be used alongside existing coders and the automatic setting of the date and hour ensures correct, thorough coding and complete traceability of the product.
The SmartDate series has three different tape saver devices that increase the flexibility and the efficiency of the system: RRS (Radial Ribbon Save), APS (Advanced Print System) and IS (Interlaced System). We remind readers that as well as the SmartDate coders, the vast range of Markem solutions includes their Cimjet and Cimpak label print & apply systems for cartons and pallets, their series 5000 thermoplastic resin jet coders (for direct printing on cartons) and their thermoplastic resin based printers for the in-line “touch-dry” print series. Thanks to the minimum distance between one writing and the other (1 mm), these coders guarantee an optimum tape consumption.

Moplefan (gruppo Basell) è fra i maggiori produttori europei di OPP e CPP, in grado di soddisfare tutte le esigenze del confezionamento alimentare e non. Le applicazioni del film non orientato spaziano dal confezionamento del pane all’imballo sterilizzato a raggi gamma per i medicinali, passando per il tessile e il confezionamento dei fiori, mentre i film biorientati vengono utilizzati nell’overwrapping, nel confezionamento di verdura fresca, gelati, patatine e barrette di cioccolato, nell’olografia e nell’etichettatura. La foglia di PP, disponibile in spessori compresi tra i 250 e i 2.000 micron, viene inoltre utilizzata per l’imballo di alimenti freschi, biscotti e latticini, così come nella ristorazione collettiva e in applicazioni industriali medicali.
Oltre alle linee di estrusione per la produzione di film, dislocate in cinque stabilimenti (quattro in Italia e uno in Belgio) con una capacità totale di circa 130.000 t/anno, Moplefan possiede impianti di metallizzazione e laccatura.
Le grandi famiglie di film
Le principali famiglie di film Moplefan comprendono:
• BOPP trasparenti non saldanti, utilizzati soprattutto per etichette, confezioni per pasta, nastri adesivi e film base per metallizzazione;
• BOPP trasparenti coestrusi termosaldabili (anche basso saldanti ad alta velocità e a permeabilità controllata);
• BOPP bianchi solidi e cavitati termosaldabili, che trovano sbocco nel confezionamento di gelati, biscotti, snack e barrette di cioccolato;
• BOPP metallizzati termosaldabili per laminazione, patatine e biscotti;
• BOPP metallizzati non saldabili, usati per l’imballo di fiori e uova di Pasqua, per la produzione di carte da regalo ecc.;
• BOPP laccati trasparenti, usati nell’imballaggio di lusso, nell’olografia, nel packaging alimentare e di detersivi in tavolette, ecc.;
• BOPP laccati bianchi, che trovano impiego soprattutto nel confezionamento di biscotti e detersivi in tavolette.
Film for all types of packaging
Moplefan (Basell group) is among the major European producers of OPP and CPP, capable of satisfying all food packaging and other packaging needs. The applications of non oriented film extend from packaging bread to gamma ray sterilised packaging of medicinal products, going by way of textiles and packaging of flowers, while bioriented film are used in overwrapping, in the packaging of fresh vegetables, icecreams, potato chips and chocolate bars, in holography and labels. The PP sheets, available in thicknesses that go from 250 to 2,000 microns, are also used for packaging fresh foodstuffs, biscuits and dairy products, as in catering and in medical and industrial applications.
As well as extrusion lines for film production, located in five works (four in Italy and one in Belgium) with a total capacity of around 130,000 t/year, Moplefan possesses metalization and lacquering systems.
The large film families
The main families of Moplefan film include:
• BOPP non seal transparent film, used aboveall for labels, pasta packs, adhesive tape and basic film for metalization;
• BOPP coextruded transparent heatseal film (also low seal high speed and controlled permeability);
• BOPP solid white and cavitated heatsealable film that find outlets in packaging icecreams, biscuits, snacks and chocolate bars;
• BOPP metalized heatsealable film for lamination, potato chips and biscuits;
• BOPP metalized non heatsealable, used for packaging flowers and easter eggs, for producing gift wrap paper etc;
• BOPP lacquered transparent, used in luxury packaging, holography, in food packaging and washing detergents in lozenge form, etc;
• BOPP white lacquered film used mostly in packaging biscuits and washing detergents in lozenge form.
| Linea di spalmatura e accoppiamento
Octopus 1 è una linea di trattamento e converting di imballaggio flessibile da bobina, messa a punto da Polytech. Si tratta di una linea di spalmatura e accoppiamento multiprodotto, con una larghezza del nastro di 1.000 m e una velocità operativa di 500 m/min. I sistemi di conduzione dei vari substrati e i relativi controlli di tensione permettono di processare una vasta gamma di supporti, spalmati, laccati o accoppiati mediante una serie di differenti tecnologie di coating, anch’esse soggette a continui sviluppi. Polytech ha concentrato l’attenzione soprattutto sulle richieste di spalmatura in veicolo acquoso o con 100% di contenuto solido; di conseguenza, la macchina adotta diversi sistemi di asciugamento e polimerizzazione (curing) reattivi a processi termici, con raggi UV e fascio di elettroni accelerati.
Per ottenere la polimerizzazione di adesivi e spalmature a basso impatto ambientale o senza residuo organolettico, è stata adottata un’unità Electron Beam della ESI, che permette di eseguire sia le prove interne sia lo sviluppo e la dimostrazione dei nuovi sistemi di spalmatura, accoppiamento e polimerizzazione. Con Octopus 1 è già stato ottenuto un risultato superiore nella reticolazione di film plastici speciali, di cui si prevedono sviluppi interessanti.
A Marano Ticino Polytech si avvale del Centro Ricerche e Sviluppo che, su un’area di 1.500 m2, è stato concepito soprattutto come service per i clienti, dove è attiva anche un’installazione pilota della Octopus 1.
Spreading and laminating line
Octopus 1 is a line for processing and converting flexible packaging from the reel, devised by Polytech, constituted by multiproduct spreading and laminating sections with a band breadth of 1,000 m and a working speed of 500 m/min. The running systems of the various substrates and the relative tension controls enable the processing of a vast range of backings, spread and lacquered items by using a series of different coating technologies, these too undergoing constant development. Polytech has aboveall concentrated its attention on the request for spreading vehicled by water and with 100% solid content; consequently the machine adopts different drying and curing (polymerisation) systems that are reactive to thermal process, with UV rays and accelerated electron range.
in order to obtain the curing of adhesives and low environmental impact spreading or without organoleptic residue, an Electron Beam unit by ESI has been adopted, that allows one to carry out both internal tests as well as the development and demonstration of new spreading, laminating and polymerisation (curing) systems. With Octopus 1 superior results in the reticulation of special plastic films has already been obtained; interesting developments are expected.
At Marano Ticino Polytech avails itself of the R&D centre, that stretches over an area of 1,500 m2, aboveall conceived as a service for the customer, where a pilot installation of Octopus 1 is also operational.
| Adesivi e sistemi di incollaggio
Colle hot melt e applicatori, questo l’ambito in cui opera da oltre vent’anni Elettrograf, azienda che ha scelto di partecipare al Converflex per promuoverne vantaggi e applicazioni e che sin dalla sua fondazione ha creduto nelle potenzialità di tali sistemi, investendo costantemente nella ricerca e sviluppo.
Basti pensare che al museo della Scienza e della Tecnica di Milano si può trovare esposta una delle prime pistole Elettrograf per l’applicazione di adesivo in stick.
«In Italia l’impiego di questa tecnologia - afferma Angelo Ottolini, responsabile tecnico - non è ampiamente diffusa come, ad esempio, negli Stati Uniti. Del resto il nostro paese è uno dei principali produttori di nastro adesivo. I vantaggi offerti dagli hot melt sono comunque innegabili.
Innanzitutto facilitano le operazioni di riciclo e smaltimento dei rifiuti, rispondono ai requisiti delle normative CE in materia di esportazioni e permettono anche di evidenziare chiaramente eventuali manomissioni o furti di merce durante le spedizioni.
Non va dimenticato poi che le colle termofusibili possono essere utilizzate in numerosissime applicazioni, da quelle domestiche a quelle industriali, nel settore alimentare e non».
Le colle infatti sono state studiate da Elettrograf per assemblare i materiali più diversi e possono essere utilizzate per sigillare e riempire.
Gli stick di adesivi sono solidi, senza solventi e non producono odori sgradevoli; sono atossici e mono-componenti e fondono ad alta temperatura. L’azienda milanese costruisce anche applicatori portatili con una capacità di estrusione che va dai 430 ai 5.000 g/ora e potenze da un minimo di 40 a un massimo di 400 Watt. Oltre agli applicatori elettropneumatici, dotati di controllo temperatura e pressione, Elettrograf produce applicatori per sofisticati assemblaggi industriali che consentono di determinare l’erogazione di colla in un tempo prestabilito, inserendo l’apposito temporizzatore.
Attenta alle diverse esigenze del mercato, Elettrograf di recente ha aperto a Mosca un ufficio commerciale per la vendita dei propri sistemi hot melt, fiduciosa di poter garantire ai clienti una distribuzione capillare.
Adhesives and gluing systems
Hot melt glues and applicators are the sector in which Elettrograf has been operating for more than twenty years. The company decided to take part in Converflex to promote its advantages and applications, and since its foundation has believed in the potential of such systems, constantly investing in research and development. Suffice to say that Milan’s Museum of Science and Technology has on display Elettrograf’s first glue gun for the application of stick adhesives. Angelo Ottolini, the technical manager, says: «In Italy, commitment to this technology is not as widespread as, say, in the United States. Italy is one of the world’s main producers of adhesive tape, but the advantages offered by hot melt are unequalled.
Above all, they facilitate the work of recycling and waste disposal, they conform to EU directives on export materials and they also make it possible to identify tampering or theft of goods in transit. Don’t forget, either, that hot melt glues can be used for many applications, in the home and in industry, both for foodstuffs and non-food products».
In fact, Elettrograf is developing glues for the assembly of a wide range of materials and can be used for sealing and as fillers. Stick adhesives are solid, with no solvents and do not give off unpleasant odours. They are non-toxic, mono-componental and melt at high temperature. The Milan-based company also produces portable applicators with extrusion capacities from 430 to 5,000 grams per hour and power outputs from a minimum of 40 to a maximum of 400 Watts. As well as electro-pneumatic applicators equipped with temperature and pressure controls, Elettrograf produces applicators for use in complicated industrial assembly processes which allow the distribution of the glue to be regulated in a pre-determined time, by using the appropriate timer.
Always aware of new market requirements, Elettrograf has recently opened a commercial office in Moscow for the sale of its hot melt systems, confident of being able to guarantee a comprehensive distribution network for its customers.
| Nuova generazione di etichettatrici
Dalla Divisione Industria di Bizerba, sede italiana della Bizerba GmbH, arriva la nuova generazione di etichettatrici GLP, in grado di stampare sia a trasferimento termico sia con tecnologia termica diretta sino a 250 mm/s, con una larghezza di stampa fino a 160 mm.
Queste stampanti, dotate di interfaccia memory card integrata, grazie al grado di protezione IP54 del gruppo visore tastiera, possono essere utilizzate come unità stand alone, senza necessità di collegare un PC. Innovativa inoltre la possibilità di effettuare un’assistenza on-line, ovunque ci sia un collegamento al Web. Tali stampanti sono ideali per l’industria alimentare, farmaceutica, chimica, della subfornitura ma, grazie alle loro caratteristiche, Bizerba conta di introdursi in nuovi segmenti di mercato (l’industria, la logistica e il non alimentare). Naturalmente, oltre alle prestazioni di stampa, con Bizerba non poteva mancare la funzione peso, differenziando le stampanti GLP da quelle attualmente in commercio. Non meno importante da segnalare è il conseguimento, in meno di tre mesi, della certificazione secondo le nuove norme ISO 9001:2000 da parte della casa madre tedesca. L’azienda di Balingen prosegue così la sua politica di gestione della qualità, avviata già nel ‘92 con la certificazione DIN EN ISO 9001.
New generation of labelers
From the Bizerba based Divisione Industria, Italian branch of Bizerba GmbH, one has the new generation of GLP labelers, capable of printing up to 250 mm/s to a print width of up to 160 mm using both heat transfer as well as direct thermal technology. Thanks to the IP54 degree protection of the keyboard display unit these printers, fitted with integrated memory card interface, can also be used as a stand alones without PC connection. Also innovatory the possibility of on-line assistance wherever there is a web connection.
These printers are ideal for the food, pharmaceutical chemical industry as well as sub-supply, but Bizerba is confident that thanks to their characteristics they will be able to enter market segment (industry, logistics, and non food). Naturally, as well as print performance, Bizerba could not ignore the weight factor, a feature that makes the GLPs stand out from those currently on the market. No less important is the German parent company’s less than three year fulfilment of certification according to standard ISO 9001:2000. The company from Balingen is thus carrying on with its quality management, started up in ‘92 with its DIN EN ISO 9001 certification.
| Pallet e casse-pallet
Allibert realizza contenitori, casse-pallet e pallet di HDPE. La gamma di pallet si articola in quattro famiglie di dimensioni standard di 800x1200 e 1000x1200 mm:
- Jumbopal, resistente e con portate fino a 5 t;
- Packpal, è ideale per la distribuzione. Grazie infatti alla forma dei piedi priva di traverse risulta impilabile e offre un notevole risparmio di spazio sia nel trasporto sia nello stoccaggio a vuoto;
- Biopal è realizzato tramite stampaggio rotazionale e rinforzato con l’inserimento di schiuma di poliuretano che ne aumenta la resistenza meccanica. Le forme arrotondate, prive di spigoli o fessure, lo rendono ideale dove l’igiene è fondamentale;
- Retenpal è stato studiato per il trasporto di prodotti liquidi. Estremamente robusto, ha una capacità di 35 l e un pianale superiore dotato di 56 alveoli. Altrettanto ricca la gamma delle casse-pallet, anch’essi impilabili:
- Jumbox è stato realizzato interamente in HDPE con rinforzi in acciaio e legno, che assicurano elevata robustezza anche in sovrapposizione. Ha infatti una portata di oltre 10 t in accatastamento;
- Geobox è stampato a iniezione con pareti scatolate, per coniugare leggerezza, (solo 30 kg nella versione grande), robustezza e capacità (450 kg - 543 l);
- Crescendo, dotato di pareti e sportellini abbattibili, rappresenta la soluzione ideale per il trasferimento di semilavorati tra unità produttive o per la consegna di materiali.
Pallets and pallet-crates
Allibert creates containers, pallet-cases and pallets in HDPE. Their range of pallets comes in four families of standard sizes of 800x1200 and 1000x1200 mm:
- Jumbopal, sturdy and with loadbearing capacity up to 5 t;
- Packpal, is ideal for distribution. Thanks in fact to the form of its feet without cross slats it can be stacked and offers considerable space saving both in transport and when stored empty;
- Biopal is made by rotation moulding and is reinforced with polyurethane foam inserts that increase its sturdiness. Its rounded forms, without corners or slits, make it ideal for uses where hygiene is important;
- Retenpal has been designed from transporting liquid products. Extremely sturdy, it has a capacity of 35 l and an upper layer with 56 honeycomb alcoves. The range of pallet-crates is equally rich, these too being stackable:
- Jumbox has been made entirely in HDPE, with steel and wood reinforcements that ensure great sturdiness also when stacked. It in fact has a loadbearing capacity of over 10 t while stacked;
- Geobox has been injection moulded with boxed walls, so as to combine lightness (only 30 kg in the larger version), sturdiness and capacity (450 kg - 543 l);
- Crescendo, with collapsible walls and openings, represents the ideal solution for transferring semiprocessed items between production units or for the delivery of materials.
| Stampanti “standalone”
Leptons (che fa capo a Dataprocess Europe) arricchisce la propria gamma ST 30 di stampanti e applicatori automatici, con la realizzazione di una versione “standalone” in grado di funzionare senza necessità di collegamento a PC. I tre nuovi modelli - ST302S (termica diretta con stampa di 2 pollici), ST312S (trasferimento termico a 2 pollici), ST314S (trasferimento termico fino a 4 pollici) - si distinguono per la tastiera alfanumerica di 48 tasti incorporata nella facciata della stampante. La tastiera consente l’inserimento di qualsiasi dato alfanumerico nei campi predisposti nel disegno dell’etichetta da stampare e i tasti dedicati alle funzioni della stampante ne consentono l’uso in totale autonomia e senza l’ausilio di un PC. Il visore LCD retroilluminato guida l’operatore tra i comandi del menù e permette di verificare i dati inseriti tramite tastiera. Le stampanti vengono “programmate” all’inizio con la creazione di formati di etichette attraverso il software in ambiente Windows WinLW, realizzato appositamente da Leptons. Le etichette programmate vengono poi registrate nella memoria Flash delle stampanti che possono essere dislocate in qualsiasi area di lavoro. Il funzionamento senza PC garantisce la massima flessibilità della stampante, in quanto può essere trasferita in qualsiasi momento e in qualsiasi postazione di lavoro diventando immediatamente operativa.
Stand along printers
Leptons (that comes under Dataprocess Europe) has added to its ST 30 range of printer and automatic applicators with the creation of a stand alone version capable of functioning without need of linkup to PC. The three new models - ST302S (hot direct 2 inch print), ST312S (thermal transfer 2 inch), ST14S (heat transfer up to 4 inches) - stand out for the alphanumeric 48 key keyboard incorporated in the printer face. The keyboard enables the insertion of any alphanumerical data in the field featuring the design of the label to be printed, the keys dedicated to the print function enable totally independent usage without the aid of a PC. The LCD rearlit viewer guides the operator among menu commands and enables the checking of data inserted by way of keyboard. The printers are “programmed” at the beginning with the creation of label format using software in Window WinLW environments, especially created by Leptons.
The programmed labels are then registered in the Flash memory of the printer that can by located in any work area. The functioning without PC enables the max flexibility of the printer, inasmuch as it can be transferred in any moment and in any work station becoming immediately operative.

Realizzate con le più moderne tecnologie di stampa (tipografia rotativa, serigrafia rotativa, stampa a caldo, flessografia), possono essere stampate fino a 9 colori ed, eventualmente, verniciate.

Sales produces a vast range of self-adhesive labels: resealable labels, safety and security labels, multiweb and filigree labels, adhesive components for floppy disks, numbering and bar-coding, “open and shut” systems.
The labels are made using the most modern printing technology (rotary letterpress, rotary silkscreen, hot stamping and flexo) and can be printed in up to 9 colors, and varnished at the final stage.
