| |  |  | | | Nel ‘96 era solo un ufficio commerciale, aperto “quasi per scommessa”, dedicato alla vendita del trasportatore di base della multinazionale americana Shuttleworth (automazione industriale e impianti di movimentazione completi). Nel giro di due anni, Morc 2 ha assunto una struttura più completa, gestita direttamente dai due soci Roberto Mazzoni e Giuseppe Zaccaria, che le consente di fornire soluzioni chiavi in mano di alimentazione, accumulo e, più in generale, movimentazione interna (fino alla palettizzazione). E ora, da una sede ampliata e nuova di zecca, si ripropone come operatore su scala nazionale, prefigurando sviluppi ulteriori. Grazie al fatto che anche un prodotto semplice come il trasportatore può “fare la differenza”, garantendo affidabilità e sicurezza superiori e, soprattutto, permettendo di automatizzare lavorazioni delicate o difficili.
Tanti vantaggi, molte applicazioni
Lo Slip Torque della Shuttleworth è un sistema a rullini folli, che permette di veicolare e accumulare prodotti senza forza di spinta. Questa caratteristica - sottolineano in azienda - assicura sicuri vantaggi: la mancanza di attrito fra il trasportatore e il prodotto da movimentare, che non viene danneggiato, e una garanzia superiore dal punto di vista antinfortunistico. Così, nel settore alimentare viene adottato per movimentare contenitori instabili (tipici i vasetti di yogurt) oppure nel trasporto di biscotti che, leggeri e delicati, rischiano di uscire dal rango o di sbriciolarsi. Nelle applicazioni wet wipe, invece - che costituiscono un segmento non food in vivace evoluzione - permettono l’accumulo laddove, al momento dell’arresto, un altro tipo di trasportatore “sfoglierebbe” le salviettine. Per lo stesso motivo nell’editoria consente di automatizzare la palettizzazione degli stampati, altrimenti gestita a mano.
Ma le applicazioni, classiche o di nicchia, sono sempre più numerose: talvolta “create” per il cliente alla ricerca “della soluzione giusta”, talvolta nate seguendo l’intuizione. «Come nella ceramica - esemplificano i due soci - dove gli Slip Torque servono ad accumulare le piastrelle in uscita dalla pressa, evitando urti e danneggiamenti e permettendo economie tali da portare al rapidissimo ammortamento dei costi di acquisto».
L’impiego di questo tipo di trasportatore non si limita ai casi in cui è richiesta una movimentazione senza traumi, ma si è imposto anche dove sia necessario il controllo dei fattori inquinanti presenti nell’ambiente di lavoro. Nella componentistica elettronica, per esempio, gli Slip Torque sono particolarmente diffusi perché, evitando attriti e sfregamenti, preservano dalla polvere i delicati apparecchi che devono movimentare. Per gli stessi motivi - a cui si aggiunge la disponibilità di versioni di classe igienica superiore - il trasportatore a rullini folli viene utilmente impiegato anche nel settore farmaceutico e, più in generale, in tutte le lavorazioni affini a valore aggiunto.
Perché scegliere l’originale
È evidente, da questi accenni, l’importanza che rivestono la qualità intrinseca e l’affidabilità nel tempo di un prodotto che svolge un ruolo portante (è il caso di dirlo!) in snodi cruciali delle linee. Ed è proprio sulle garanzie di qualità offerte da Shuttleworth in 40 anni di attività e con oltre 10.000 installazioni in tutto il mondo, che Morc 2 ha basato il proprio esordio e ancor’oggi fa conto per conquistare l’attenzione e la fiducia degli utilizzatori.
Slip Torque, infatti, è un prodotto concettualmente semplice, formato da un albero di trasmissione principale su cui vengono montate le cinghie che azionano gli alberi su cui sono montati i rullini. Su questo tipo di trasportatore, le differenze di peso dei prodotti generano spinte diverse (che dipendono anche dal tipo di rullino montato sul singolo trasportatore), mentre non varia la velocità di avanzamento; inoltre, nel momento in cui il prodotto si ferma, si arresta anche il rullino sottostante, eliminando così ogni possibile attrito. Va da sè che la resa complessiva del sistema è direttamente proporzionale alla qualità dei componenti di base, a partire dalle cinghie e dalle boccole.
Le garanzie di affidabilità offerte da Shuttleworth e sottoscritte da Morc 2 sono peraltro amplificate dalla diffusione del sistema a livello globale e dalla capillarità del servizio di assistenza. Infatti, per il produttore di macchine o l’OEM che adotta questi trasportatori e poi esporta in tutto il mondo è fondamentale poter contare sulla facile reperibilità dei ricambi originali americani. «Analogamente - affermano Mazzoni e Zaccaria - in Italia è Morc 2 ad assicurare tanto la disponibilità immediata dei componenti quanto il lavoro di personalizzazione o il pronto intervento sulla linea del cliente. In caso di necessità».
Dedicati al mercato
Nel caso dello Slip Torque, infatti, il contributo del distributore è vitale e non riguarda “solo” la creazione del mercato ma anche, in parte, quella del prodotto stesso. «Noi cerchiamo di impiegare il più possibile standard - spiegano in azienda - per gli evidenti vantaggi che questo comporta anche in fatto di ricambistica, e siamo facilitati dal fatto che la Shuttleworth è un’azienda dinamica, che continua a investire in nuovi sviluppi offrendo molti strumenti ai rappresentanti locali. Tuttavia, ogni situazione richiede un certo grado di personalizzazione, che noi curiamo in ogni fase, dal progetto al collaudo delle linee».
Gli interventi possono interessare divisori, arresti, cambi di velocità o anche solo l’altezza del trasportatore oppure - al contrario - il progetto dell’intera movimentazione, della linea o della fabbrica. «Ma in entrambi i casi vengono realizzati con l’intento di risolvere al cliente tutti i problemi».
I due soci concordano sull’importanza di questo approccio, per qualsiasi tipo di cliente: dall’OEM che acquista una serie ben definita di elementi al costruttore di macchine per il confezionamento, che richiede maggior capacità di dialogo con i propri sistemi, fino all’utilizzatore finale (il produttore di beni, Ndr.) che magari acquista le varie parti di una linea e si occupa solo in un secondo momento delle alimentazioni e dei collegamenti, «per il quale progettiamo e mettiamo in funzione tutto ciò di cui ha bisogno».
È un rapporto col mercato appagante, perché stimola il fornitore a mettere in campo competenze tecniche e commerciali che crescono nel tempo. Inoltre, come mostra l’esperienza, “paga”: in termini di immagine, solidità, giro d’affari e - fattore non banale - fedeltà. | | Morc 2 ha conquistato la fiducia

Solutions on the move
Morc 2 has won the trust of OEM, the machinery manufacturers and producers/wrappers of goods, thanks to the high quality of the conveyors and material handling products of its represented company Shuttleworth.
Added to which, its ability to come up with complete solutions pre- and post sales has stimulated a positive response both in traditional markets and emerging niches.
Back in 1996, Morc 2 was nothing more than a commercial office, opened “almost for a bet” and selling the basic conveyors produced by the American multinational Shuttleworth (industrial automation and complete material handling systems). Within two years however, Morc 2 had taken on a more complete structure and was run directly by two partners, Roberto Mazzoni and Giuseppe Zaccaria. This allowed them to come up with ready-to-use solutions in feeding, accumulation and, more generally, in internal handling (up to palletizing). Today they operate on a national scale, planning further developments from a brand-new enlarged head office. All this thanks to the fact that even a product as simple as a conveyor can “make the difference”, guaranteeing high reliability and safety, and allowing above all the automation of delicate or difficult jobs.
Many advantages, many applications
Shuttleworth’s Slip Torque is a loose-fit roller system which allows the movement and accumulation of the product without a driving force. This feature, the company points out, guarantees some advantages: the lack of attrition between conveyor and the product being moved, which remains undamaged, and a better performance from the point of view of safety. This is why it is used in the food industry in the movement of unstable containers (pots of yoghurt are a typical example), or in the transportation of biscuits which are light and delicate and risk exiting from the line or crumbling. In the wet wipe application, a rapidly evolving non food sector, it permits accumulation at the moment of stopping whereas any other type of conveyor would “layer” the wipes. In the same way in publishing, it allows the printed sheets to be palletized automatically - a function which is usually done manually. The number of applications, whether general or specific, are continually growing. They are sometimes created for a customer seeking “the right solution”; sometimes they are simply dreamt up through intuition. «As in the case of ceramics - explain the two partners - where the Slip Torques are used to collect tiles coming out of the press, avoiding knocks and damages, and making such savings that the price of purchase is rapidly recuperated».
But the use of this type of conveyor is not limited to cases where trauma-free handling is required. It is also employed where there is a need to keep polluting factors in the working environment under control. In the manufacture of electronic components, for example, the Slip Torques are particularly widespread because, by avoiding attrition and friction, they protect the delicate equipment being handled from dust. For the same reasons, and with a superior-hygiene version also available, the loose-fit roller conveyor is usefully employed in the pharmaceutical sector, and more generally in all similar high value applications.
Why choose the original
From what has been outlined so far, the intrinsic quality and longterm reliability of a conveyor is obviously of great importance. Shuttleworth, with 40 years of activity and over 10,000 installations all over the world, offers a guarantee of quality that Morc 2 was able to build its own debut on, and can still refer to in gaining users’ attention and trust.
Slip Torque is actually a very simple product conceptually; it consists of a main transmission shaft on which are mounted belts that power the shafts where the rollers are mounted. On this type of conveyor the different weights of the product generate different driving forces (also depending on the type of roller mounted on a single conveyor) while the speed of motion remains unaltered. Furthermore, when the product stops, the roller below also stops, eliminating any possible attrition. It goes without saying that the system’s overall yield is directly proportional to that of its base components, beginning with the belts and the bushings.
Shuttleworth’s guarantee of reliability, as endorsed by Morc 2, is further enhanced by the system’s global diffusion and the extended network of service assistance.
When a machinery manufacturer, or OEM, selects these conveyors and then exports them all over the world, it is fundamental for them to be able to count on the easy accessibility of original American spare parts. «Likewise - comment Mazzoni and Zaccaria - in Italy it is Morc 2 which guarantees both immediate availability of components and personalization or emergency assistance on the customer’s line - in the case of necessity».
Dedicated to the market
Where Slip Torque is concerned, the distributor’s contribution is vital. This does not mean “only” in market creation, but also in the creation of the product itself. «We try to employ as many standards as possible - explains the company - because of the obvious advantages that this brings as far as spare parts are concerned, and we are helped by the fact that Shuttleworth is a dynamic organization which continues to invest in new development, offering many instruments to local representatives. In any case, each situation requires a certain degree of personalization and we take care of this in every phase, from planning to commissioning of the line».
Modifications can regard dividers, stop devices, speed change or just conveyor height, or at the other extreme can involve the overall movement plan of the line or the plant. «But in both cases they are carried out with the aim of resolving all the customer’s problems».
The two partners agree on the importance of this approach, whatever type of customer: from OEM purchasing a clearly defined series of elements, to the wrapping machine manufacturer who requires maximum dialogue capacities with his own systems, to the final user (the goods producer, ed.) who might purchase different parts of a line and only afterwards deal with feeds and connections «and for whom we plan and set up everything that he could need».
This is fruitful relationship with the market because it stimulates the supplier to make available technical and commercial expertise that will grow over time.
What’s more, as experience shows, there is “payback” in terms of image, solidity, business and, not least, reliability. | |

Low ProfileTM:
più’ ergonomia e sicurezza
Sfruttando il principio di funzionamento brevettato su cui si basa lo Slip-Torque, Shuttleworth ha sviluppato un nuovo trasportatore denominato Low ProfileTM. Si tratta di un modello caratterizzato da un’altezza ridotta, che permette all’operatore di sedersi comodamente e lavorare direttamente sulla superficie di trasporto del convogliatore, e da un sistema di trasmissione completamente protetto, che ne aumenta la sicurezza. Idoneo alle applicazioni in clean-room fino alla classe 1, Low Profile presenta una superficie laterale di alluminio anodizzato, arrotondata e priva di parti spigolose o pericolose.
Utilizzato per realizzare stazioni di assemblaggio, convogliatori multipiste, bidirezionali o a funzionamento reversibile, trova largo impiego nella manipolazione e movimentazione di componenti o parti elettroniche. Più in generale, la sua struttura chiusa evita che si disperdano nell’ambiente particelle contaminanti (polvere), che potrebbero danneggiare i prodotti delicati.

Exploiting the patented principal of functioning on which the Slip-Torque is based, Shuttleworth has developed a new conveyor called Low ProfileTM; a model built on the flat, that allows the operator to comfortably sit and work directly on the conveying surface of the machine, the conveying system being completely protected, thus offering increased safety. Suited to clean-room applications up to class 1, Low Profile has a side surface of anodised aluminium, rounded off and devoid of dangerous edges.
Used for making assembly stations, multilane, bi-directional or reverse functioning conveyors, the machine is broadly used in the handling and conveying of components and electronic parts. More in general its closed structure avoids the dispersion of contaminating particles (dust), that could damage delicate products.
