Così la «neonata» Noxon (debutto ufficiale nel marzo 2000, a Ipack-Ima) si sta facendo strada nel settore dell’avvolgimento estensibile di pallet. I risultati raggiunti, da un anno a questa parte, sono più che promettenti.

Grande realismo e garbata determinazione sono caratteristiche che colpiscono, soprattutto se, a esprimerle nei fatti, è un pool di persone con grande esperienza alle spalle e con competenze tecniche di prim’ordine.
A un anno dalla prima “uscita pubblica” a Ipack-Ima, i fondatori di Noxon sono soddisfatti dell’andamento dell’attività, ripagati dalle vivaci richieste del mercato e dal grande interesse espresso nei loro confronti da molti rivenditori europei; un successo «che non nasce certo per caso» come tiene a precisare Maria Antonina Santangelo, portavoce ufficiale di Noxon, dove cura l’area commerciale e i rapporti con l’estero. Volitiva e pacata, la signora sembra soprattutto assai poco turbata dal dover governare la crescita progressiva e incalzante del business, «perché - riprende Santangelo - una volta apprezzate la compattezza, la solidità, il design dei nostri prodotti, clienti e rivenditori hanno soprattutto toccato con mano l’affidabilità dei sistemi di avvolgimento con l’estensibile realizzati da Noxon. E non hanno avuto difficoltà a sceglierli, dandoci così modo di raggiungere risultati superiori alle più rosee aspettative».
Un’alternativa da scoprire
Tutto è cominciato con un piccolo robot mobile - il Mas, declinato in vari modelli, differenti per dimensioni e capacità - progettato e costruito in Noxon per avvolgere i pallet, ovunque si trovino e in meno di un minuto. Un prodotto che, presentato alla scorsa edizione di Ipack-Ima, possiamo dire, ha fatto da testa di ponte per l’intera gamma Noxon (ora completata con le tavole rotanti di fascia alta e media) e ha permesso di “saggiare” le reazioni del mercato.
«Durante la manifestazione milanese abbiamo puntato a proporre un’alternativa efficace, ma più economica rispetto a sistemi di avvolgimento consolidati e conosciuti; e dal punto di vista commerciale, da quel momento in poi, - esemplifica Santangelo - è stato tutto veloce e facile, tanto che già entro la fine dell’anno avevamo venduto più di 250 macchine, tra robot e tavole rotanti. Le nostre prime mosse sono state improntate alla cautela, promuovendo l’offerta anzitutto in Italia e circoscrivendo di proposito il campo d’azione, per facilitare eventuali interventi tecnici. Ma, quasi subito, abbiamo ricevuto richieste interessanti da parte di rivenditori stranieri, convinti dalle prestazioni del robot, e ai quali, in seconda battuta, abbiamo affidato la commercializzazione di tutti i nostri sistemi di avvolgimento. Anche grazie all’apertura del mercato estero, le previsioni di crescita per quest’anno sono veramente buone, tanto che pensiamo di poter tranquillamente raddoppiare le cifre e le prestazioni del 2000».
Avanti, passo dopo passo
Ma come è stato possibile, per Noxon, farsi largo in così breve tempo nel comparto dell’avvolgimento estensibile, tanto affollato da costruttori “storici” e di dimensioni ragguardevoli?
A prescindere dalle solide basi finanziarie su cui ha potuto contare fin dall’inizio (e che hanno senza dubbio contribuito a dissipare la diffidenza che spesso accompagna la nascita di nuove realtà industriali), la ragione fondamentale dell’accettazione del marchio Noxon va ricercata nelle competenze tecniche espresse dai soci fondatori (Giovanni Bevilacqua e Moreno Predieri). Spiega a questo proposito Santangelo: «L’idea di base (del robottino prima e delle tavole rotanti poi), il know how progettuale, la realizzazione: tutto è stato sviluppato internamente, grazie all’incontro di tecnici di mestiere che, alla luce di esperienze maturate in ambiti analoghi, hanno saputo ben coniugare intuizioni d’ingegno e senso pratico, tanto da proporre fin dall’inizio soluzioni con un grado di efficienza elevato e rendimenti costanti. Si tratta di caratteristiche che, in questo settore, fanno ovviamente la differenza e spingono gli utilizzatori a operare scelte di campo decise, a favore delle prestazioni».
Saper scegliere e organizzare
La gamma Noxon è dunque frutto di un lavoro di équipe che, accanto allo sviluppo minuzioso dei particolari, ha privilegiato l’attenta organizzazione della produzione. «Abbiamo ottimizzato gli investimenti in ricerca e sviluppo, travasando le tecnologie messe a punto per il robot nelle tavole rotanti e negli avvolgitori a braccio rotante. Siamo riusciti a trovare il giusto equilibrio nei tempi di montaggio e assemblaggio delle macchine, recuperando quindi un buon margine di competitività anche nella gestione delle forniture, a tutto vantaggio nostro e dei rivenditori sparsi per l’Europa. E anche la scelta di impiegare componenti standard di qualità, facilmente reperibili, non è stata lasciata al caso perché ha di fatto reso più accessibili le macchine, semplificando il servizio di manutenzione e di assistenza in tutti i paesi in cui vengono distribuite».
Bruciate le tappe, Noxon, comunque non si accontenta, consapevole delle potenzialità di sviluppo ulteriore.
«In tempo record abbiamo creato l’azienda, messo a punto i prodotti - conclude Santangelo - e abbiamo instaurato una rete di relazioni funzionali alla penetrazione sia nel mercato italiano che all’estero. Abbiamo quindi avuto ragione nel procedere seguendo solo le nostre inclinazioni, senza voler “strafare” o emulare nessuno. E pensiamo che l’originalità e la trasparenza del nostro approccio, sia dal punto di vista progettuale che commerciale, sia stato il vero motore del successo delle nostre proposte. Il know how da spendere è ancora molto, le fasce di mercato che siamo in grado di soddisfare potranno essere ampliate e, a questo proposito, stiamo ultimando la preparazione di alcuni prototipi di macchine sempre nel settore dell’estensibile, che presenteremo a breve». | | 
Stretch: room for invention
Independent, sure of its products and commercial choices, but without a hint of arrogance. This is the “new-born” Noxon (official debut in March 2000, at Ipack-Ima) as it makes inroads into the world of stretch pallet wrapping. The results achieved after roughly a year are more than promising.
Great realism and amiable determination are the characteristics that hit one, especially if, to turn them into facts, is a pool of people with immense experience behind them and first-rate technical competence.
A year after the company’s first “public outing” at Ipack-Ima, the founders of Noxon are satisfied with the progress made, rewarded with lively demand from the market and great interest in them from many European resellers; a success «that certainly hasn’t come about by chance» as Maria Antonina Santangelo stresses, official Noxon spokeswoman and in charge of the commercial aspects of the business and foreign trade.
Determined and even-tempered, this lady seems most unruffled about the task of controlling the continual and pressing growth of the business, «because - continues Santangelo - after having appreciated the compactness, soundness and design of our products, our customers and resellers also have had the chance to experience for themselves the dependability of the wrapping system with stretch film developed by Noxon. And they’ve had no difficulties in choosing it, thus making it possible for us to achieve far higher results than we hoped for in our wildest dreams».
An alternative waiting to be discovered
Everything started with a small mobile robot - the Mas, coming in various models with different sizes and capacities - designed and built by Noxon to wrap pallets wherever they happen to be and in less than a minute. A product that, presented at the latest edition of Ipack-Ima, we can safely say acted as the bridgehead for the entire Noxon range (now completed with the high and medium range turntables) and let the company “test” the reactions of the market.
«Our aim during the fair in Milan was to propose an effective, but also more inexpensive, alternative to the consolidated and known wrapping systems. And from that point onwards, from a commercial perspective, - explains Santangelo - it was all quick and easy, so much so that by the end of the year we had already sold more than 250 machines, what with robots and turntables. Our first moves were cautious, promoting our products firstly in Italy and deliberately limiting our range of action, in order to make any technical intervention easier. But, almost immediately, we received requests from foreign resellers, convinced of the performance of the robot. Later, we entrusted the marketing of all our wrapping systems to these. Again, as the foreign market opened up, our forecasts for growth in this year are extremely good, to the extent that we believe we can quite easily double our 2000 figures and performance».
Forwards, step by step
But how has it been possible for Noxon to get so much success in such a short period in the field of stretch wrapping, a sector that’s teeming with “traditional”, big manufacturers?
Apart from the sound financial basis that the company was able to count on right from the start (and which doubtless contributed to overcoming the diffidence that often accompanies the birth of new industrial concerns), the fundamental factor in the acceptance of the Noxon trademark can be found in the technical ability of its founding partners (Giovanni Bevilacqua and Moreno Predieri).
Here Santangelo explains: «The basic idea (first the small robot, followed by the turntables), the engineering know how, the creation: all has been developed in-house thanks to a coming-together of master technicians who, in the light of experience matured in similar environments, were fully able to wed ingenious intuition with practical good sense, proposing right from the start solutions marked by excellent levels of efficiency and constant performance. These are characteristics that obviously make all the difference in this sector and help users make definite strategic choices, with performance coming out top».
Ability to choose and organise
The Noxon range is thus the result of team work that, together with painstaking development of details, has favoured the careful organisation of production. «We’ve optimised our investments in R&D, transferring the technologies developed for our robot to the turntables and rotating arm wrapping systems. We’ve thus managed to hit the perfect balance between machine fitting and assembly times, getting a good competitive margin in the management of supplies, all to our advantage and that of our resellers throughout Europe. Also the decision to use standard, easily available quality components was not a matter of chance, as this has made the machine more accessible, simplifying servicing and assistance in all countries where we have a presence».
Having forged ahead, Noxon isn’t content to stop here, but believes in the potential for future development.
«We set up a business and perfected our products in record time - concludes Santangelo - and we’ve also created a network of functional contacts to penetrate both the Italian and the foreign market. We thus feel we were right to proceed following just our inclinations, without wanting to “overdo it” or copy anyone. And we also believe that the originality and transparency of our approach, both in terms of design and trade, has been the real cause for the success of our products. We still have a lot of untapped know how, the market segments we can satisfy can be extended and, in this regard, we are currently preparing a few prototypes for new machines, always within the stretch film sector, which we hope to present shortly». | | | |
Un nome, un programma (di produzione)
Noxon, bell’esempio di nome palindromo, è qualcosa di più della semplice firma su una macchina: leggibile indifferentemente da destra e da sinistra, dall’alto in basso e viceversa, di facile pronuncia per tutti (latini o anglosassoni che siano) porta i segni della ferma volontà di aprirsi al mondo. E poi il marchio, chiaro e perentorio, si impone immediatamente con una grafica inconfondibile, d’altri tempi, dove la tridimensionalità diventa materia scolpita e richiama la solidità dei prodotti.
La gamma di soluzioni per l’avvolgimento con estensibile, dal marzo 2000, è stata ampliata, così da soddisfare esigenze e settori diversi. Ecco i modelli, in una breve carrellata.
Robot avvolgipallet - MAS è il robot di ultima generazione progettato e costruito in Noxon per avvolgere i pallet, ovunque si trovino, in meno di un minuto. Facile da usare, presenta una pulsantiera con comandi e simbologie di immediata comprensione e può avvolgere anche prodotti fragili o deformabili. Accelera la manovrabilità, sia per la posizione ergonomica del quadro sia per la logica delle sequenze operative, e inoltre riduce i tempi di intervento grazie a un microprocessore di ultima generazione.
È predisposto per essere sollevato e trasportato col muletto; legge l’altezza del pallet con fotocellula, possiede un sistema d’emergenza per l’arresto rapido ed è attrezzato con ruota tastatore per seguire il profilo di ogni tipo di carico. Richiede interventi minimi di manutenzione ordinaria e possiede un vano di facile accesso dove è alloggiata la batteria - che può essere ricaricata rapidamente grazie a un dispositivo apposito - per semplificare al massimo le operazioni di routine.
Questo robot è dotato di un’autonomia sufficiente a compiere oltre 220 avvolgimenti ed è disponibile in tre versioni: MAS 10, con carrello con rullo frizionato e tensionatura del film regolabile da pannello; MAS 11 con carrello con rulli di prestiro a percentuale fissa, oppure variabile fra il 50 e il 250% tramite sostituzione di appositi ingranaggi; MAS 12 con carrello con prestiro motorizzato elettronico a variazione continua, regolabile da pannello. In questo caso la distribuzione del film è automatica, assistita elettronicamente a velocità variabile e le conformazioni di prestiro raggiungono il 300%.
Tavole rotanti - Tutti i modelli disponibili nelle gamme Freesby e Freesby T garantiscono un perfetto sincronismo della velocità di rotazione (variabile) rispetto alla salita e discesa del carrello e l’ottima regolazione della velocità delle fasi di accelerazione e decelerazione del piatto rotante per una gestione più sicura dei carichi instabili. E, ancora, è molto importante sottolineare la possibilità di regolare da pannello, e in modo indipendente, la velocità del carrello sia in fase di salita che in discesa, così da ottimizzare la stabilità del carico. La chiara simbologia adottata sul quadro comando del pannello contribuisce a semplificare le operazioni di gestione. Oltre a puntare alla massima flessibilità di programmazione del numero di giri, sia alla base che alla sommità del pallet, assicurano un notevole risparmio del film per avvolgimento, grazie all’azione di prestiro dell’estensibile dal 50% al 300%, a seconda dei modelli.
Progettata seguendo criteri di maggiore economicità, la tavola rotante EKKO è invece destinata a una fascia di mercato che esprime esigenze di avvolgimento più contenute: il diametro del piatto è di 1.500 mm e le dimensioni massime del carico da avvolgere sono di 800 x 1.200 mm (2.000 mm h).

A name, a (production) program
Noxon, a good example of a palindrome, is something more than just a simple name on a machine: the same whether read left to right or right to left, from the top to bottom or vice-versa, easy to pronounce for all (Latin or Anglo-Saxon people alike), it bears the mark of a firm desire to open up the world. And then the trademark, clear and peremptory, is immediately striking with unmistakable graphics, reminiscent of another age, where its 3-D nature becomes a sculpture and recalls the soundness of the products.
The range of stretch film wrapping solutions has been extended, as from March 2000, to meet different needs and sectors. Here’s a brief rundown of the models.
Stretch wrapping machine - MAS is the cutting-edge robot designed and built by Noxon to wrap pallets wherever they happen to be and in less than a minute. Easy to use, it has a push-button control panel where the symbols are immediately recognisable and can even wrap fragile or easily deformed products. It speeds up handling activities, thanks to both the ergonomic position of the panel and the logical sequence of operations, plus it also cuts the time involved thanks to a state-of-the-art microprocessor.
It can be lifted and transported by forklift truck; it reads the height of the pallet with a photocell, has an emergency system for fast stopping and is equipped with a feeler wheel to follow the profile of all types of load. It requires minimal routine servicing and has an easily accessible battery compartment - the battery is quick to recharge thanks to a special device - to simplify routine operations as much as possible.
This robot has sufficient autonomy to wrap more than 220 pallets and comes in three versions: the MAS 10, with a clutch-operated roller trolley and film stretching adjusted from the panel; the MAS 11, with a roller trolley with pre-stretching at a fixed percentage or at a variable rate (50-250%) by simply replacing the appropriate gears; the MAS 12, with trolley and electronically driven, continuous variation pre-stretching, adjusted from the panel. In this case, the distribution of the film is automatic, helped electronically at variable speed and pre-stretching can reach up to 300%.
Turntables - All the models in the Freesby and Freesby T ranges guarantee perfect synchronism of the rotation speed (variable) with the upward/downward movement of the trolley and excellent adjustment of the speed during acceleration and deceleration of the rotary plate to get safer management of unstable loads. What’s more, it should be stressed that the speed of the trolley, both when climbing and descending, can be adjusted from the panel independently to optimise the stability of the load. The clear symbols used on the control panel help to simplify the control operations. In addition to aiming for max flexibility in programming the rpm, both at the base and the top of the pallet, these machines also make for considerable savings in wrapping film, thanks to the prestretching of the stretch film, anything from 50% to 300% depending on the model.
Designed with an eye to keeping the costs down, the EKKO turntable is aimed at a market sector with more limited needs for pallet wrapping: the diameter of the plate is 1,500 mm and the max dimensions of the load to be wrapped are 800 x 1,200 mm (2,000 mm h).
