PRB ha scelto Ipack-Ima per presentare il prototipo di una nuova incartonatrice verticale, la F30, un’evoluzione del precedente modello F20. Si tratta di una macchina di tipo “Top loading”, estremamente compatta, accessibile e completamente elettronica, in grado di raggiungere i 30 cicli/min. Il cambio formato, grazie alle regolazioni indicizzate e ai bracci a ventosa regolabili, è semplice e veloce da eseguire (la macchina è predisposta anche per l’applicazione di un cambio formato motorizzato). La F30 è dotata di una tramoggia prodotto con apertura patte comandata meccanicamente che assicura un inserimento delicato nei cartoni ed è inoltre in grado di chiudere i cartoni con nastro adesivo, colla hot-melt o entrambi contemporaneamente. Grazie a un accordo raggiunto con ABB, l’azienda potrà adottare per il suo case packer verticale un sistema robotico di alta tecnologia, che le consentirà di personalizzare la macchina a seconda delle esigenze produttive. PRB ha esposto anche l’incartonatrice orizzontale Newpocket in versione elettronica, adatta per elevate velocità (fino a 30 cartoni/min) e la fardellatrice FAR 2001, ideale per applicazioni particolarmente complicate.
Infine, in virtù dell’accordo di rappresentanza in Italia della spagnola Bossar, PRB ha esposto l’imbustinatrice orizzontale B-3800/4, che può raggiungere i 260 pz/min. La macchina può trattare sia prodotti liquidi sia solidi e può confezionare quattro buste a tre o quattro saldature contemporaneamente.

PRB chose Ipack-Ima as the occasion to present the prototype of its new vertical case packer, the F30, an evolution of the previous model, the F20. This is a really compact, “top loading” machine, that’s highly accessible and 100% electronic, capable of reaching speeds of 30 cycles/min. The size change, thanks to indexed adjustments and the adjustable sucker arms, is quick and easy (the machine can also be fitted with a motorised size change).
The F30 is equipped with a product hopper with mechanically-controlled flap opening to guarantee gentle introduction of the products in the boxes and can also close the boxes with adhesive tape, hot-melt glue or both at the same time. Thanks to an agreement with ABB, this company has been able to adopt a hi-tech robot system for its case packer, meaning that it’s possible to personalise the machine to suit production needs. PRB also had the electronic version of the Newpocket horizontal case packer on show, suitable for high speeds (up to 30 boxes/min) and the FAR 2001 wraparound, ideal for particularly complicated applications.
Finally, thanks to the agreement with Bossar to represent this Spanish company in Italy, PRB also showed the B-3800/4 horizontal sachet packer, capable of a top speed of 260 pcs/min. This machine can cater for both liquid and solid products and can pack four sachets with 3 or 4 seals at the same time.

Tradex ha di recente formalizzato l’accordo commerciale con la società spagnola Macsa, diventandone distributore esclusivo per l’Italia. In occasione di Ipack-Ima ha potuto quindi introdurre alcune novità dell’azienda, affiancandole all’ampia gamma di soluzioni di etichettatura, marcatura e identificazione automatica che Tradex può offrire. Tre in particolare i sistemi Macsa su cui è stata puntata l’attenzione.
Il sistema laser CO2 Scriptmark (foto 1) è in grado di realizzare marcature complesse, ad una velocità di 100 m/min, sia su prodotti in movimento sia statici nel settore della componentistica ed elettrico. Può marcare codici a barre, loghi e altri marchi di identificazione su supporti di plastica, vetro, alluminio o legno.
Il sistema laser YAG Powermark è ideale invece per marcare, ad una velocità di 100 m/min, metalli e materiali plastici, sia in modo statico che dinamico. È disponibile in tre diverse potenze, per soddisfare varie necessità in termini di cadenze e materiali da trattare.
Mentre velocità fino a 250 m/min sono raggiungibili con il sistema laser a matrice di punti Halley 3 (foto 2) , sviluppato e brevettato da Macsa per marcare anche tre righe di testo su prodotti in movimento come ad esempio sulle etichette o direttamente sulle bottiglie di plastica di acqua minerale. Il design compatto ne permette l’inserimento su linee di produzione in spazi ristretti, mentre il software user-friendly utilizzato dal sistema permette di introdurre e modificare facilmente i codici e i messaggi.
| | Static and dynamic marking
Tradex has recently stipulated a trade agreement with Macsa of Spain, thus becoming its exclusive distributor in Italy. During Ipack-Ima Tradex presented some of the novel products from this company alongside the wide range of labeling, coding and automatic identification solutions that Tradex already offers. A lot of interest was shown in three Macsa systems in particular. The Scriptmark CO2 laser (photo 1)is capable of complex marking operations at a top speed of 100 m/min, on both static and dynamic products in the components and electrical industries. It can mark barcodes, logos and other identification marks on plastic, glass, aluminium or wood.
The Powermark YAG laser, meanwhile, is perfect for marking metals and plastics at 100 m/min, acting as both a dynamic and static laser coder. It comes with three different powers to satisfy the various needs in terms of coding rates and materials to be treated. Meanwhile, speeds of up to 250 m/min are possible with the Halley 3 dot matrix laser system (photo 2), developed and patented by Macsa to mark up to three rows of text on moving products, for instance on labels or directly on plastic mineral water bottles.
The compact design means this laser coder can be installed in production lines in confined spaces, while the user-friendly software used by the system lets the operator introduce and modify the codes and messages with ease.

Datalink è un System-Integrator specializzato nello sviluppo di soluzioni integrate per l’information management, rivolte agli utenti dell’industria e del commercio, nonché alle società di software gestionale che offrono soluzioni dipartimentali. L’azienda di Calderara di Reno (BO) realizza sistemi di identificazione automatica in ambiente produttivo, logistico e gestionale, basati su tecnologie consolidate (come il codice a barre) ed emergenti (per esempio i Tags RF/ID). Fra le ultime proposte - presentate in anteprima allo stand di Ipack-Ima - si segnalano i sistemi automatici DA 110 e DA 170 per il print-apply di etichette in tempo reale, rispettivamente con larghezza di stampa di 104 e 168 mm (quest’ultimo ideale per la marcatura di pallet o di superfici molto grandi). Progettati seguendo il concetto di isola di lavoro autonoma, consentono di applicare l’etichetta lateralmente, sul fronte del pallet, ad angolo, con prodotto fermo o in movimento e, con semplici dimensionamenti pneumatici e meccanici, si integrano facilmente sulle linee di imballaggio, movimentazione e palettizzazione. DA 110 e DA 170 sono dotati di gruppo stampa standardizzato e controlli digitali che completano la gestione da unità locali o remote. Le due macchine lavorano a una velocità regolabile, che raggiunge i 250 mm/s con 203 dpi di risoluzione di stampa (305 mm/s il modello DA 170), e i 203 mm/s con 300 dpi. Altre caratteristiche: 1 MB standard RAM; PC card interface; LCD display; trasmissive media sensor; reflective media sensor (dual 32-bit CISC and RISC per il DA 170).

Datalink is a System-Integrator specialized in the development of integrated solutions for information management, aimed at the users of industry and trade, as well as managerial software companies that offer departmental solutions. The company, based at Calderara del Reno (BO), makes systems for automatic identification for production, logistics and handling based on consolidated (ie barcode) and emerging (ie RF/ID Tags) technologies. Among its latest proposals - previewed at the company’s Ipack-Ima stand - we draw attention to the DA 110 and DA 170 automatic systems for the print-apply of labels in real time, respectively with print breadth of 104 and 168 mm (the latter are ideal for marking pallets or large surfaces). Designed to the concept of the autonomous work island, they enable application of the label on the side, on the front and the corner of the pallet with stationary or moving products and with simple pneumatic and mechanical dimensioning; they integrate easily with packaging, handling and palletization lines. DA 110 and DA 170 are fitted with standardised print units and digital controls that complete their control as local or remote units. The two machines work at adjustable speeds that reach 250 mm/s with 203 dpi of print resolution (305 mm/s with the DA 170 model), and 203 mm/s with 300 dpi. Other features: standard 1 MB RAM; PC card interface; LCD display; transmissive media sensor; reflective media sensor (dual 32-bit CISC RISC and DA 170).

Il codificatore Willett 470Si può lavorare negli ambienti industriali più difficili. L’ampia gamma di inchiostri disponibili e la sua elevata capacità di stampa alle alte velocità garantiscono soluzioni di codifica ottimali. Il 470Si è oggi l’unico codificatore a getto d’inchiostro certificato IP66, è in grado quindi di resistere a getti d’acqua ad alta pressione. Un nuovo ugello assicura la massima qualità di stampa ottimizzando i consumi di inchiostro, mentre l’introduzione di un particolare condensatore nel cabinet consente un abbattimento dei consumi di solvente. Il 470Si stampa codice a barre, loghi e testi con informazioni variabili.
Il marcatore 370Si per la codifica a getto d’inchiostro può essere configurato sia per le esigenze di stampa ad alta soluzione che a bassa risoluzione. Il nuovo controller 370 guida fino a otto teste di stampa, installabili anche su due diverse linee di produzione. Questo significa poter controllare in contemporanea tutte le teste di stampa, impostate per riprodurre differenti dati variabili e installate su due linee di produzione separate. Il cabinet di controllo è certificato IP65. Il 370Si stampa codici a barre, date di scadenza e di produzione con calcolo automatico.
Presentate anche le nuove stampanti a trasferimento termico della serie Willett 282 e 285, facilmente montabili su confezionatrici automatiche orizzontali o verticali. Stampano su film plastico date, loghi, codici a barre e testi con informazioni variabili. Disponibili nella versione per confezionatrici intermittenti o continue, possono essere pilotate sia dalla loro unità di controllo sia con PC. Il modello che stampa in continuo consente di risparmiare sino all’80% del foil normalmente utilizzato.
| | Coding solutions
The Willett 470Si coding model can work in the most difficult of industrial environments. The large range of inks available and the high printing capacity guarantee optimal coding solutions. At present, the 470Si is the only ink-jet coding machine to be IP66 certified, which means that it is capable of resisting to high pressure water jets. A new nozzle ensures maximum print quality, optimising ink consumption, while the introduction of a special condenser into the cabinet reduces solvent consumption. The 470Si prints barcodes, logos and texts with variable information. The 370Si marker, for ink-jet coding, can be set up for both high- and low-resolution printing requirements. The new 370 controller can guide up to eight print heads, which can be installed in two different production lines.
This makes it possible to control all print heads at the same time, although these are set to reproduce different variable data and are installed in two separate production lines. The control cabinet is IP65 certified. The 370Si can print barcodes and automatically calculated, expiry and production dates. Also present at the fair the new Willett heat transfer series 282 and 285 printers, that can be easily mounted on automatic horizontal or vertical packing machines. The new machines print data, logos, barcodes and wording with variable information on plastic film. Available in the version for intermittent or continuous packaging machines, they can be both piloted by their control units and by PC. The model that prints continuously enables savings of up to 80% on the foil normally used.

La serie di fotocellule W12-2 della Sick comprende diverse versioni: sistema a sbarramento con emettitore e ricevitore o con catarifrangente; sistema a tasteggio diretto energetico, con soppressione dello sfondo o con soppressione del primo piano; sistema con fibre ottiche. Il tipo di emissione può essere infrarossa, rossa visibile o laser. Per applicazioni specifiche sono disponibili versioni a bassa isteresi, versioni per oggetti trasparenti ad autoapprendimento e soglia d’intervento autoadattante, versioni equipaggiate con chip ASI, versioni con rivestimento in Teflon® (marchio registrato DuPont). Le distanze di lavoro spaziano, a seconda del modello, da 5 mm a 60 m.
Proposto anche il nuovo lettore di tacca KT5W-2P1116 in grado di identificare correttamente tacche e sfondi su superfici riflettenti, specie nel settore dell’imballaggio (la soglia di commutazione si adatta automaticamente ad una superficie lucida). È caratterizzato da: distanza di lavoro 10 mm; 3 emettitori; Teach-In statico (sfondo e tacca); Selettore di funzione: (Teach-In + Run) + Led Giallo di funzionamento. La funzione di Teach-In può essere eseguita sia sul corpo fotocellula, che remotata via terminale ET(5), il pulsante di Teach può essere inibito posizionando il selettore di funzione su “RUN”, mentre la luce di emissione può essere posizionata a piacimento su uno dei due lati più stretti della custodia. Il nuovo lettore può essere fornito sia nella versione PNP che NPN ed è fornito con contenitore metallico adatto agli standard di mercato.
| | Photoelectric sensors and mark readers
The W12-2 family of photoelectric switches by Sick includes different versions: barrier system with emitter and receiver, with reflector; direct key energy system, with background suppression or with foreground suppression; fibre optics system. The type of emission can be infrared, visible red or laser. Specific applications are catered for with low hysteresis versions, transparent object versions with self-learning and self-adjusting thresholds and versions equipped with ASI chips, or versions with Teflon®&Mac226; (registered trademark of DuPont) coating. Working distances range from 5 mm to 60 m depending on the model. Also on show the new KT5W-2P1116 mark reader which can identify marks and backgrounds correctly on reflecting surfaces, especially in the packaging sector (the commutation threshold automatically adapts to a shiny surface). It is characterized by: working distance: 10 mm; 3 emitters; static Teach-In (background and mark); function selector: (Teach-In + Run) + yellow functioning led. The Teach-In function can be conducted on both the photoelectric cell body and remote command by the ET(5) terminal. The Teach button can be inhibited by turning the function selector to “RUN”, while the emission light can be positioned at will on either of the two narrower sides of the case. The new reader can be supplied in the PNP or NPN version and is provided with a metal container in line with market standards.

MARKEM ha organizzato un incontro stampa enfatizzando l’importanza del coding automation, la gestione automatica in rete delle operazioni di marcatura, codifica ed etichettatura in linea. «MARKEM - sostiene Roberta Bagna, marketing manager - si distingue come fabbricante di una linea completa di codificatori che utilizzano software standard per tutta la rete, non a caso è stata realizzata una nuova versione del software CimControl (V5), per gestire le operazioni di rete». Con CimControl è possibile incrociare i dati di etichettatura e codifica con il database dello stabilimento, monitorare le operazioni (dalla marcatura dell’imballo primario al pallet), controllando anche più di 62 sistemi gestiti da un unico PC. In debutto in fiera anche il codificatore a getto d’inchiostro 9096S per microcaratteri, che amplia la gamma di sistemi a base di resina termoplastica. Con un’unica testina, stampa legende fino a 25,4 mm di altezza e 356,6 mm di lunghezza con una capacità di 8 righe di testo. Le cartucce, di semplice utilizzo, sono sostituibili senza fermi produzione, inoltre, non essendo tossiche, consentono di utilizzare la macchina nelle industrie alimentari e delle bevande. Ma non potevano mancare l’affermato codificatore 5000 per la stampa diretta su cartoni di macrocaratteri e codici a barre con resina termoplastica Touch Dry®, il codificatore a trasferimento termico Smartdate per velocità fino a 1.000 mm/s e i sistemi stampa/applica etichette Cimjet e Cimpak con stampa digitale a trasferimento termico. «Mentre i programmi futuri - spiega Ezio Colorio, amministratore delegato - prevedono l’avvio del progetto e-commerce per la vendita di alcuni prodotti tramite Internet».

During the show MARKEM organized a press meeting to emphasise the importance of coding automation, the automatic management in network of marking, coding and in-line labeling operations. «MARKEM - sustains Roberta Bagna, marketing manager - stands out as manufacturer of a complete line of coding machines that use standard software for the entire network. It is not by chance that a new version of CimControl software (V5) for managing network operations has been devised». With CimControl labeling and coding data can be exchanged with the factory database, monitoring the operations (from the marking of the primary packaging to the pallet), also controlling more than 62 systems managed by a single PC. The inkjet coding machine 9096S for micro characters, that broadens the range of systems based on thermoplastic resin also made its debut at the fair. With one single head, legends of up to 25.4 mm high and 356.6 mm long with a capacity of 8 lines of wording can be printed. The cartridges, simple to use, can be replaced without work stoppages, besides, in being non-toxic the machine can also be used in the foodstuffs and beverage industries. The successful coding machine 5000 for the direct printing on cardboard of macro characters and barcodes with Touch Dry® thermoplastic resin, the Smartdate heat transfer coding machine for speeds up to 1,000 mm/s and the Cimjet and Cimpak labels print/apply systems with heat transfer digital printing also occupied pride of place at the fair. «While our future programs - Ezio Colorio, managing director explained - include the start-up of our e-commerce project for the sale of certain products through Internet».

Tra le soluzioni di Aetna Group a Ipack-Ima hanno suscitato un particolare interesse due macchine della Dimac Division: l’incartonatrice Starwrap R30 e la manigliatrice Starhandle 45.
La Starwrap R30 è una wrap-around in continuo, per produzioni fino a 30 cartoni/min. La sua semplicità è dovuta alla modalità elettronica di cambio formato, che non richiede alcuna sostituzione di parti ma che si effettua richiamando il codice del nuovo formato sul pannello comandi, ed effettuando semplici regolazioni tramite indicatori di posizione e volantini. La macchina è dotata di magazzino cartoni ad alta capienza e comodo da usare, è comandata da motori indipendenti e gestita da assi elettrici per un migliore controllo delle velocità in tutte le fasi di lavoro. Starwrap R30 può formare cartoni completi o vassoi, oppure lavorare abbinata a una fardellatrice in termoretraibile con falde di cartone piano; inoltre, è disponibile in versione con inserimento automatico di alveari.
Starhandle 45 è invece una macchina automatica che applica maniglie autoadesive su fardelli termoretratti dopo aver seguito il profilo del pacco e le taglia nella lunghezza desiderata. Per il cambio formato non sono necessarie sostituzioni di parti (i fermi si riducono a pochi minuti) ma una semplice variazione di posizione della testa nastrante e del rullo regolatore. Le funzioni di controllo e allarme sono gestite da PLC, con pulsantiera e display alfanumerico.
| | Wrap-around case packer
Of the several solutions offered by the Aetna Group at Ipack-Ima, two machines from its Dimac Division aroused a lot of interest: the Starwrap R30 case packer and the Starhandle 45 handle machine. The Starwrap R30 is a continuous wrap-around machine offering output rates of up to 30 packs/min. Its simplicity is the result of the electronic size change that does away with the need to change individual parts, simply requiring that the operator recalls the code for the new format from the control panel and then makes a few easy adjustments using the position indicators and the handwheels instead. The machine is fitted with a large capacity, easy to use case store and is driven by independent motors and managed by electrical axes for better speed control during all stages in the process. The Starwrap R30 can form complete boxes or trays or work alongside a heatshrink bundling machine with flat cardboard separators. Moreover, the case packer also comes in an automatic honeycomb insertion version. The Starhandle 45, on the other hand, is an automatic machine that applies self-adhesive handles on heatshrink bundles after forming the pack profile and then cuts these to the required length. The size change involves no component changes (meaning that stop times are thus reduced to just a few minutes), but rather a simple variation in the position of the taping head and the adjusting roller. The control and alarm functions are PLC-run, with a pushbutton panel and alphanumerical display.

Advanced Vision Technology è specializzata nella produzione di sistemi di controllo qualità e di processo per l’industria della stampa. PrintVision/Genesis è un sistema automatico per la segnalazione dei difetti di stampa, specificamente progettato per piccole e medie macchine flexo, rotocalco e offset del settore tessile. PrintVision/Genesis consente all’operatore di definire intuitivamente singoli parametri per specifici tipi di difetto (anomalie cromatiche, irregolarità di registro, ecc.) e di personalizzare il sistema. Basata sulla tecnologia PrintVision/9000NT, richiede tempi di impostazione inferiori ai 30 s, è dotata di interfaccia user-friendly e opera in ambiente Windows NT con tutti i benefici di un’architettura aperta.
RiteSeal è invece un sistema per l’individuazione dei difetti di saldatura a freddo, che ispeziona contemporaneamente il lato anteriore e posteriore della bobina, mentre il verificatore automatico ABC controlla in linea i codici a barre stampati. Il sistema individua i codici e controlla automaticamente la determinazione dei contorni, la riflessione minima, il contrasto del simbolo e del contorno, la modulazione, i difetti e la decodificabilità. ABC si abbina perfettamente con PrintVision/9000, quale parte integrante del processo di controllo in linea della stampa.
| | Print defect control system
Advanced Vision Technology has specialised in the production of quality and process control systems for the printing industry. PrintVision/Genesis is an automatic system that detects print defects and has been especially designed for small and medium flexo, roto and offset machines for the textiles industry.
PrintVision/Genesis lets the operator intuitively set each parameter for specific types of defect (chromatic defects, irregular register, etc.,) and personalise the system. Based on PrintVision/9000NT technology, it offers setting times of less than 30 s, is fitted with user-friendly interface and runs under Windows NT with all the benefits of an open architecture.
RiteSeal, on the other hand, is a system for detecting cold seal defects that inspects the front and the rear of the reel simultaneously, while the automatic ABC checker controls the printed barcodes online. The system identifies the codes and automatically checks the edge, minimum reflection, the contrast of the symbol and the outline, the modulation, the defects and the decodability. The ABC is fully compatible with PrintVision/9000, acting as an integrating part of the online print control process.
