| | Identifying with the market At Impatec Tradex presented an entire range of products, including lasers by Macsa, the Falcon radio terminals for data collection and the EVP2000 print & apply for A5 format EAN labels. They also presented a series of network linked and company support services, offering a dynamic approach to the market. Tradex has always got on well at Vicenza. At Impatec ever since the first edition of the show, the heads of the Varese-based concern are quick to reiterate that - contacts are easier there, both with the organisers and with the public, and the confirmation as to the consistency of the contacts is extremely rapid. As well as that, the shows autumn and spring calendar placing avoids long forced breaks due to holidays or other commitments close to the show. Representing some of the big brands of labeling and coding Tradex brought all its product lines to March edition and took advantage of the event to speak about its new site and its latest undertakings in support of marketing. The new Macsa lasers On the products front, the lasers by Macsa - a company that Tradex exclusively represents in Italy - were offered in the most updated version, both for dynamic marking (deflected lasers) as well as scanning. In the first category, ideal for engraving best before dates, lot numbers and the like on various materials (glass, wood, rubber, anodised aluminium, electrical components, but also leather and other materials). The flagship of the series, named Halley, can exceed 200 m/min, corresponding to 30.000 characters a second. What is more Halley has a compact design that also enables its insertion in production lines with problems of space. The machine can also be connected to any electronic control system. The scanning lasers can in turn create full bodied wording and are ideal for applications that require a particularly high precision. The machines are also top of the mark concerning other features: the most powerful machines work at speeds of over 50 m/sec, over and area of over 100x100 mm and with a resolution of 1,000 Dpi. With this technology Macsa has devised a number of lines under the Scriptmark brand (that can be entirely PC run) and Dynamark (controlled from a palm-held terminal). For engraving on harder metals. Macsa has also created solid state lasers with Nd-Yag bar, capable of generating a wavelength of 1.064 nanometers. Labeling and controlling pallets The demand for traceability of pallets and the need for reproducing evermore detailed information easy to handle is growing. This is why Tradex has devised EVP2000, dedicated to the print and automatic application of EAN Pallet labels in A5 format. More precisely, the machine prints detailed information in 300 Dpi on A5 selfadhesive labels that are then applied to the two adjacent sides of the pallet. As well as that it incorporates another function: the checking of printed barcodes, with repeat of cycle in case of non application or poor legibility. Also adopted in Italy (for example by Nestlè for the various Penguin, Buitoni, Motta brands etc) this solution comes with a management software that is even further evolved thanks to the integrations from the customers production and logistics heads, including original functions and a greater possibility of communication with abroad. The machine, that reaches speeds of 200 mm a second, transfers print labels in various configurations, with a max area of 163x170 m. Development for data collection The third great family of products presented at Impatec was made up of radio terminals for data collection that come under the Falcon brand, made by PSC. Among the leading models distributed by Tradex in Italy one notes the 325 and 335 featuring a 16 line display, 48 class processor, speed of execution of 33 mHz and full compatibility with PowerNet TN: a connection software that reduces response times to a fraction of a second, without requiring a wireless network controller. The radio terminal Falcon 335 also has the faculty to operate with DOS 6.22, and a series of other characteristics that reveal its state-of-the-art technology: 8 mb RAM, 2 mb Flash ROM, an inner PC Card and a keyboard with 38 alphanumeric keys, but also protected internal antenna and a 2.4 gHz radio broadcasting spectrum, that includes Breeze COM, Lucent, Proxim and Symbol radio supports. More service, also on the net Interesting new features are also to be found in-house, looking at the organisation of the customer service and marketing support, both oriented to reaching a maximum closeness to the market. The company, that operates in harmony with the other concerns of the group - Print Media, dedicated to system integrators and to the retailers and Service Engineering, specialised in the maintenance of the machines and software assistance - has recently invested in the restyling of its website, to make it quicker, more interactive and complete and thus improve its function as a communication interface with the users. But not only that: the good functioning of the site allows Tradex to offers its customers the possibility of carrying out a direct upgrading of the programs. At Vicenza in fact, the availability the Italian version of Easylabel 2 was announced, latest model of the known 32 bit software pack for product and barcode label identification. The new and advanced service for monitoring the market and product promotion, just inaugurated to support the company marketing, is in turn based on more traditional means. Entrusted to the good functioning of the phone network and the ability of especially trained personnel, it is configured like a call centre, charged with the task of contacting the Production and Purchasing heads of labeling and marking system users in order to check their requirements, the extent of their equipment and their unsatisfied needs. These companies obviously then receive information on Tradex offers. |
