In molti per la multicromia
Quello di Urbino, svoltosi il 6 e 7 ottobre e focalizzato sulla multicromia per stampa e packaging, è stato senza dubbio il seminario di maggior successo fra gli incontri sulla qualità della stampa multicolore organizzati da Esko-Graphics. Lo dicono i numeri di redemption, che parlano di oltre 100 partecipanti tra stampatori, cartotecnici, fotolitisti e progettisti grafici, giunti da tutta Italia per conoscere le ultime novità in fatto di gestione del colore, processo di stampa multicolore, interazioni tra carta e inchiostri, controllo della stampa, essiccazione UV, software per la progettazione del packaging, problematiche e innovazioni nella cartotecnica di oggi.
Complice anche l’interessante formula dell’iniziativa Esko (ma all’organizzazione dell’evento hanno collaborato anche aziende del calibro di B+B International, Huber, I&C, IST METZ, Sappi e Sun Chemical), che ha “impreziosito” il contenuto tecnico-formativo del seminario con un’ambientazione suggestiva e particolarmente evocativa per la arti grafiche come la Corte della Miniera, sede di un museo della stampa e di laboratori didattici sulle antiche tecniche di stampa.
Many for multicolor- The seminar held October 6th to 7th at Urbino focussed on multicolor for printing and packaging was the seminar with the greatest success among the encounters on the quality of multicolor printing organized by Esko-Graphics.
This can be seen from the redemption figures, that speak of over 100 participants among printers, converters, photolithographic experts and graphics designers, that came from all over Italy to get to know the new features in terms of color handling, multicolor print processes, interaction between paper and ink, print control, UV drying, software for designing packaging, problems and innovations in today’s paper&cardboard converting. Also thanks to the interesting formula that Esko chose for the undertaking (but companies the calibre of B+B International, Huber, I&C, IST METZ, Sappi and Sun Chemical also contributed to organizing the event), that “embellished” the technical-training content of the seminar by holding the undertakings in particularly striking and evocative surrounds for graphic arts such as the Corte della Miniera, that hosts a print museum as well as didactic workshops on ancient print techniques.
Un ricordo
Il 27 dicembre 2005 è scomparso Felice Sciomachen, direttore Assografici dal 1960 al 1992. Vera memoria storica del settore, Sciomachen è stato a lungo attivo in ambito confindustriale, dopo la laurea in economia alla Bocconi e la parentesi bellica che lo ha visto impegnato nelle file della Resistenza. Assografici, e tutti coloro che hanno avuto il piacere di conoscerlo, ne ricordano la serietà, la correttezza e la proverbiale disponibilità.
In memoriam
On December 27th 2005 Felice Sciomachen, director of Assografici from 1960 to 1992 died. Truly a historic figure for the sector, Sciomachen dedicated much of his time to working under the Confindustria, after graduating in economics at the Bocconi University, Milan, and following the war period that saw him involved with the Resistance.
Assografici, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him, pay tribute to his steadfastness, honesty and proverbial helpfulness.
Export con lode
Con un export in crescita (+13,62%) nel primo semestre 2005, il settore delle macchine per stampa e converting conferma un andamento in controtendenza rispetto al quadro complessivo dell’industria italiana. Il risultato, elaborato dall’Ufficio Studi Acimga su dati Istat, fa ben sperare per la chiusura del 2005, soprattutto in considerazione delle positive performance espresse dal comparto nel 2004 (fatturato +6%), che hanno permesso di riguadagnare il terreno perduto nel biennio precedente. Guidano la classifica dei mercati più ricettivi Regno Unito (10,80%, per un valore di 65.094 migliaia di euro), Spagna (7,52%) e Francia (7,07%), mentre i picchi di crescita più rilevanti si sono registrati in Slovacchia (+342,65%), Australia (+305,14%) e ancora Regno Unito (+144,49%).
Exports with honours
With exports growing (+13.62%) in the second quarter of 2005, the print and converting machine sector confirms a run that counters the general trend of Italian industry. The result, processed by the Acimga Study Department on Istat figures, allows one to hope for a good closure for 2005, aboveall in consideration of the good performance put in for 2004 (turnover +6%), that has enabled the segment to regain the ground lost in the preceding two-year period. The rating of the most receptive markets is headed by the UK (10.80%, to a value of 65,094 thousand Euros), Spain (7.52%) and France (7.07%), while the most important growth peaks were registered in Slovakia (+342.65%), Australia (+305.14%) and the UK again (+144.49%).
Da Gutemberg a Lodi
Non credevano ai propri occhi i membri del consiglio direttivo Argi, in visita lo scorso novembre alla preziosa collezione di attrezzature d’epoca che presto dovrebbe diventare il Museo della Stampa e della Stampa d’Arte di Lodi. La raccolta, messa insieme nel corso degli anni da Andrea Schiavi (titolare della casa editrice ll Pomerio), comprende infatti centinaia di pezzi di grande valore storico e documentario, da una preziosa pressa per legatoria del Cinquecento al torchio da stampa utilizzato dai Carbonari. E presto dovrebbe trovare posto nella collezione anche una ricostruzione, con materiali d’epoca, del torchio a caratteri mobili di Gutemberg.
L’esposizione, allestita con la collaborazione del ricercatore Renato Cassamagnaghi, si avvale del sostegno di Argi, già membro dell’Associazione dei Soci Fondatori del Museo.
From Gutemberg to Lodi - The members of the council of directors of Argi could not believe their eyes when last November they visited the precious collection of vintage equipment that should soon become the Lodi Print and Art Print Museum. The collection, put together over the years by Andrea Schiavi (owner of the publishing house Il Pomerio), in fact includes hundreds of pieces of great historic and documentary value, from a precious 16th century press for binding works to the printing press used by the Carbonari. A reconstruction of the Gutemberg mobile character press made using 16th century materials should also soon find place in the collection.
The exhibition, set up with the cooperation of researcher Renato Cassamagnaghi, is supported by Argi, part of the Association of Founder Members of the Museum.
Al servizio del PDF
Il gruppo di lavoro di Ghent, ente internazionale per la definizione di specifiche e Best Practices per il flusso di lavoro con PDF, chiude un 2005 “in crescita”.
Nell’ultimo anno l’organizzazione si è infatti ampliata con l’ingresso di nove nuovi membri, tutti nomi di spicco nel settore delle arti grafiche. Si tratta delle associazioni industriali Cit-agm (E), PDF/X-ready (CH) e Viskom (N), e di aziende del calibro di Apago Inc., Callas, CGS, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, OneVision e Quickcut Limited. L’ampliamento della base associativa (che ora conta 20 membri) non rappresenta però l’unico traguardo raggiunto dal gruppo di Ghent nel corso del suo terzo anno di vita. Il 2005 ha infatti visto la pubblicazione di una nuova serie (la terza) di specifiche per l’utilizzo di PDF/X-1a:2001 PLUS o PDF/X-3:2002 PLUS nei segmenti pubblicitario e della stampa commerciale (offset e roto), nonché la definizione delle prime specifiche ad hoc per il packaging design.
At the service of PDF- The Ghent workgroup, international body for defining specifications and best practises for workflows with PDF, announces growth for 2005.
Last year in fact the ranks of the organization increased with the entry of nine new members, all leading names in the graphic arts sector. These are sector associations such as Cit-agm (E), PDF/X-ready (CH) and Viskom (N), and companies the calibre of Apago Inc., Callas, CGS, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, OneVision and Quickcut Limited. The extension of the associative base (that now counts 20 members) does not only stand as the only achievement of the Ghent group during its third year of existence. 2005 has in fact seen the publication of a new series (the third) of specifications for using PDF/X-1a:2001 PLUS or PDF/X-3:2002 PLUS in the advertising segment and in commercial printing (offset and gravure), as well as the definition of the first ad hoc specifications for packaging design.
In cattedra
Alla presenza dell’ambasciatore italiano a Pechino, del corpo accademico e di importanti dirigenti delle associazioni grafiche cinesi, Guido Corbella (segretario generale Acimga) è stato nominato in dicembre professore onorario del Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication. La nomina, come il neodocente non ha mancato di ricordare nel discorso di ringraziamento, corona oltre 25 anni di impegno nella promozione della tecnologia italiana presso le industrie cinesi di stampa, packaging e converting. Tra i momenti salienti di quest’attività, ricordiamo il primo seminario tecnologico organizzato da Acimga a Wuxi nel 1979, la creazione nel 1980 di un centro di formazione per la stampa su imballaggio (seguito da un’analoga iniziativa presso la Shanghai Printing University) e la collaborazione ventennale con la Printing and Printing Equipment Industries Association of China (PEIAC).
Honorary University appointment - In the presence of the Italian ambassador to Peking, the academic body and important directors of the Chinese graphics association, Guido Corbella (general secretary of Acimga) was in December nominated as honorary professor of the Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication. The nomination, as Corbella wished to reiterate in his speech of thanks, crowns over 25 years of commitment in the promotion of Italian technology with the Chinese print, packaging and converting industry. Among the salient moments of this activity, we cite the first technological seminar organised by Acimga at Wuxi in 1979, the creation in 1980 of a training centre for printing on packaging (followed by a similar undertaking at the Shanghai Printing University) and the twenty years of cooperation with the Printing and Printing Equipment Industries Association of China (PEIAC).

Stampa e trasformazione: intese
È stato siglato di recente un accordo fra Centrexpo SpA e Argi (Associazione Rappresentanti Ufficiali e Distributori in Italia di Macchine, Sistemi e Prodotti per il settore Grafico) in merito all’organizzazione di eventi fieristici in Italia.
• L’intesa prevede che Argi si impegni a promuovere tra i propri associati le fiere organizzate da Centrexpo, Grafitalia-Converflex e Medprint in primis, riconoscendole come uniche fiere di eccellenza per il mercato italiano della cartotecnica e delle arti grafiche. Centrexpo, dal canto suo, includerà Argi tra i promotori delle suddette manifestazioni, uno status già riconosciuto ad Acimga (Associazione Costruttori Italiani Macchine per l’Industria grafica Cartotecnica, Cartaria, di Trasformazione e Affini) e Assografici (Associazione Nazionale Italiana Industrie Grafiche, Cartotecniche e Trasformatrici).
• Riconoscendo l’apporto attivo di Argi, Centrexpo ha inoltre costituito un tavolo di lavoro per discutere insieme le problematiche tecniche, logistiche e organizzative legate alle manifestazioni.
Printing & converting: agreement - An agreement was recently signed between Centrexop SpA and Argi (Association of Representatives and Distributors of Machines, Systems and Products for the Graphic Sector) covering the organization of fair events in Italy.
• The agreement lays down that Argi commits itself to promoting the fairs organized by Centrexpo among its associates, in particular Grafitalia-Converflex and Medprint, recognising them as the only fairs of excellence for the Italian market.
For its part Centrexpo will include Argi among the promoters of the above shows, a status already attributed to Acimga (The Italian Association of Machine Builders for the Graphics, Paper, Converting and like industries) and Assografici (Italian National Association for the Graphics, Paper & Cardboard manufacturing and Converting Industries).
• As well as that, recognising the active contribution made by Argi, Centrexpo has organized an encounter to discuss technical, logistical and organizational problems related to the shows.
Tecnologia a convegno
All’insegna del motto “UV/EB - Join the Winning Technology”, si è svolta a Barcellona dal 18 al 20 ottobre l’annuale mostra-convegno di RadTech Europe, punto d’incontro privilegiato per l’industria europea dei trattamenti UV ed EB per inchiostri, rivestimenti e adesivi. Quarantotto espositori da 15 paesi hanno presentato soluzioni e servizi per i trattamenti UV/EB, mentre gli ultimi sviluppi della tecnologia (in forte espansione anche in campi di applicazione inediti) sono stati illustrati dagli oltre 125 interventi e poster del tradizionale e ben atteso convegno. L’evento ha fatto da cornice alla consegna degli Innovations Award, assegnati da RadTech Europe Association all’impiego più innovativo dei sistemi UV/EB. I riconoscimenti sono andati a Punchgraphics International NV e al suo toner UV per stampa digitale, a Tikkurila Coatings Oy per lo sviluppo di una vernice UV per mobili a base acqua e a Mediterranea de Investigaciones Cientificas, per uno speciale rivestimento UV antigraffiti. Tecnology convention - Under the theme “UV/EB - Join the Winning Technology” this year’s RadTech Europe Conference&Exhibition took place in Barcelona from 18 - 20 October 2005, the premier European meeting place for the UV/EB curing industry.
Forty-eight exhibitors from 15 countries presented solutions and services for UV/EB processing, while the latest developments in technology (in strong expansion also in new field of applications) were illustrated by the over 125 speeches and posters of the traditional and well attended convention. The event also provided the context for the handing over of the Innovation Award, assigned by RadTech Europe Association for the most innovatory use of UV/EB systems. The Awards were won by Punchgraphics International NV for its UV-curable toner for digital printing, by Tikkurila Coatings Oy for its development of a waterborne UV furniture coating and by Mediterranea de Investigaciones Cientificas for its anti-graffiti UV coatings. Transazioni d’inchiostro
Dai primi mesi del 2006 hubergroup è azionista di maggioranza di Micro Inks Ltd, produttore integrato di resine, pigmenti e inchiostri con importanti attività in Nord America e India. Il gruppo tedesco (filiale italiana a Bolzano Vicentino, VI) ha rilevato più del 50% delle quote di partecipazione Micro, cui si aggiungerà un’offerta pubblica di acquisto relativa a un ulteriore 20% di quote. L’operazione consentirà a hubergroup di integrare la propria produzione per quanto riguarda resine e pigmenti, portando il volume di affari annuo del gruppo a circa 900 milioni di dollari e rafforzandone la posizione sui mercati orientali e nordamericani.
Ink transaction - Since the first months of 2006 hubergroup has become majority shareholder of Micro Inks Ltd, integrated producer of resins, pigments and inks with important activities in North America and india. The German group (Italian branch at Bolzano Vicentino, VI) has taken over more than 50% of the shares in Micro, to which the public purchasing offer of a further 20% of shares should be added. The operation will enable hubergroup to integrate its production of resins and pigments, bringing its annual turnover to around 900 million dollars and reinforcing its position on the eastern and North American markets.
