Gestione del colore
ColorConsulting Srl (Saronno, VA) si occupa di formazione, consulenza e distribuzione di prodotti per la gestione e misurazione del colore. In occasione di Grafitalia 2006, in particolare, ha presentato alcune novità: oltre agli spettrofotometri e densitometri manuali, infatti, ha proposto un tavolo di controllo spettrofotometrico automatico capace di importare il nascente standard Cxf e di automatizzare i controlli e facilitare le regolazioni di macchina.
Cfx si interfaccia senza problemi con tutti i software di formulazione e di controllo qualità come il nuovo Colorquality 5.0 o i software per la certificazione ISO 1264.
Altra innovazione di rilievo è stato NetProfiler 2.0, software capace di allineare tutti gli spettrofotometri in modo assoluto: questa soluzione permette una perfetta trasportabilità del colore dal creativo al reparto di formulazione e viceversa. Per quanto riguarda infine la gestione del colore, il tavolo automatico per il noto spettrofotometro Eye One è diventato uno strumento veloce e versatile nella lettura dei target colore.i.
Incisione diretta
In occasione dell’ultimo Converflex, Hell Gravure Systems ha svelato un’importante novità nel campo delle tecnologie per la preparazione delle forme di stampa. Il processo ad alta risoluzione delle lastre di stampa flessografica ad incisione diretta di elastomeri (sleeve o lastre) e dell’incisione a laser diretto di cilindri di rame sono stati infatti esposti presso lo stand di ETS (Garbagnate Milanese, MI).
• PremiumFlexo è il processo per generare lastre di stampa flessografica per il settore di alta qualità. Cuore del sistema è il nuovo PremiumSetter Hell, per le forme di incisione diretta di elastomeri flessografici.
Per usare il potenziale del laser al suo massimo, è stato sviluppato un Rip 3D in grado di “profilare” i punti di diverso retino con la massima precisione. PremuimFlexo combina i benefici del processo flessografico CtP per fotopolimeri a lastre, con queste di elastomeri di incisione diretta.
Per la prima volta, inoltre, si possono ottenere lastre in un solo stadio di processo con risultati qualitativamente al top e meno onerosi.
PremiumFlexo offre pertanto agli stampatori numerosi benefici: la precisione per motivi ricorrenti, tempi di preparazione ridotti, alta velocità di stampa, nessun danno alle lastre e, infine, semplicità nella manutenzione di puliziai.
Prestampa e flussi di lavoro
Dalla scorsa estate è disponibile il software Kodak Prinergy Evo 3.1, dotato di nuovi e più efficaci strumenti di controllo delle code e delle priorità, che ne confermano l’efficacia e l’affidabilità nella gestione del workflow. Ecco le funzioni principali.
• View by Output Queue: offre maggiore controllo sulla preparazione delle lastre. Consente di sospendere e riavviare i processi in coda, e ridefinirne le priorità, eliminando il lungo procedimento di cancellazione e reinoltro.
• Controlli della priorità dei processi: massimo controllo sui file, con la possibilità di definire la priorità dei processi inoltrati tramite stampanti virtuali o hot folder, e di cambiare la priorità di un elemento o di un processo dopo l’inizio dell’elaborazione.
• Supporto per la stampa digitale: consente di integrare le macchine da stampa offset e le stampanti digitali nello stesso flusso di lavoro.
Permette infatti di inviare ai sistemi di stampa digitale con abilitazione JDF un file di controllo JDF insieme al file PDF.
• Nuova tecnologia Adobe: Prinergy Evo 3.1 supporta i componenti più recenti dei software Adobe per gestire i file PDF complessi forniti dai grafici. Elabora senza errori i file creati con il software Creative Suite 2.0 e i PDF nelle versioni 1.4 e successive.
• Possibilità di sbloccare più agevolmente i file: il blocco dei file può essere eliminato nella finestra attiva del flusso di lavoro per inserire con maggiore flessibilità i file di input all’interno di un modello.
• Migliore gestione delle cartelle hot folder: permette di stabilire per quanto tempo un file di input deve essere conservato nella cartella hot folder.
• Software di imposizione digitale Kodak Preps: il software Prinergy Evo 3.1 usa i componenti della nuova versione 5.2 del software Preps per gestire l’imposizione automatica.
Incisione rotocalco
Dalim Software e Hell Gravure Systems hanno annunciato il lancio di Helioflow, un’innovativa interfaccia - risultato di una joint venture tecnica tra le due aziende - che offre strumenti intuitivi ed automatici per l’incisione rotocalco.
Helioflow si interfaccia con il sistema Hell FormManager - così come con i sistemi MIS di altre aziende e database di produzione - e, utilizzando lo strumento Dalim Twist, crea automaticamente l’incisione dei cilindri senza interventi manuali. L’operatore, su un web browser, può anche visionare un’imposizione completa prima di procedere con l’incisione del cilindro. In questo modo, è possibile creare, gestire e approvare il processo di incisione da qualsiasi parte del mondo, riducendo errori e tempi di esecuzione.
Soluzioni software
Artwork Systems Group (sede a Gent, Belgio e presente in Italia con uffici a Segrate, MI) ha di recente proposto diverse novità alle principali fiere di settore. Tra queste ricordiamo la versione 8.3 di Nexus, la versione 2.5 di Odystar 2.5; PA:CT, ossia Packaging:Certified Technology (PDF certificato nel settore del packaging); Neo, per l’editing veloce di file PDF nativi; Concentric Screening™, una nuova tecnologia per il punto di retino; e WebWay 4.0, per la collaborazione Internet con gli utenti.
• In particolare, Nexus è la soluzione “workflow” per il settore etichette, packaging, offset, flexo e rotocalco in grado di gestire l’automazione dei processi di prestampa legati ad ArtPro e di dialogare in sicurezza con le periferiche presenti sul mercato: stampanti colore, CTF e CTP. Nexus è nato infatti con l’idea di integrare in un workflow le periferiche presenti in azienda e di gestire PDF 1.6, trasparenze, web, nuove tecnologie di retinatura ecc. automatizzando alcuni processi, senza sostituire hardware ancora produttivi.
• Odystar, invece, è “il workflow PDF” su piattaforma Macintosh che consente di incrementare la produttività e l’automazione nel reparto prestampa.
Basato su piattaforma Mac OS X, Odystar si integra facilmente con prodotti di “terze parti” in un’unica soluzione workflow.
• Ricordiamo, per inciso, che lo scorso settembre Artwork ha festeggiato l’apertura ufficiale della nuova sede di Gent, alla presenza del Governatore delle Fiandre Yves Leterme.

Color management
ColorConsulting Srl (Saronno, VA) deals with training, consultancy and the distribution of products for color management and measurement. In occasion of Grafitalia 2006, in particular, it presented some new features: as well as hand-held spectrophotometers and densometers, the new feature was an automatic spectrophotomatic control table capable of importing the fledgling Cxf standard and of automating controls to facilitate machine adjustment.
Cfx interfaces perfectly with all formulation and quality control software like the new Color quality 5.0 or the ISO 1264 certification software. NetProfiler 2.0, software capable of absolute alignment of all spectophotometers, was the other key new feature: this solution enables a perfect transfer of the creatives’ color to the formulation section and viceversa. Lastly, as far as color management is concerned, the automatic table for the known Eye One spectrophotometer has become a speedy and versatile tool for reading target colors.
Direct engraving
At Converflex in Milan, HELL Gravure Systems has unveiled new, ground-breaking technologies for printing form manufacture.
Processes for high-resolution direct engraving of elastomer flexographic printing forms and direct laser engraving of copper gravure cylinders will be explained at the stand of the local representative ETS.
• PremiumFlexo is a new process for producing flexographic printing forms for the high-end sector. The central feature of the process is the new PremiumSetter from HELL for direct engraving of elastomer flexographic forms.
To use the laser’s potential to the full, a 3D-Rip was developed that enables screen dots to be profiled with the utmost precision. PremiumFlexo combines the benefits of the flexographic CtP process for photopolymer plates with those of elastomer direct engraving.
For the first time, round printing forms can be produced in a single-stage process cost-effectively with top quality results. PremiumFlexo offers printers different benefits: namely continuous motifs, short makeready times, smooth operation, high print speeds, no plate damage, and simplified cleaning.
Preprint and workflows
Kodak Prinergy Evo 3.1 was made available last summer, comprising new and even more effective tools for priority and queue control that confirm its effectiveness and reliability for running workflow.
Here are some of the main functions.
• View by Output Queue: offers better control on plate preparation. It enables the suspending and restart of queued processes, and redefines priority, eliminating the long procedure of canceling and resending.
• Controls of the process priority: max control of files, enabling definition of process priority sent via virtual printer or hot folder, and change of priority of an element or a process after processing has commenced.
• Support for digital print: enables the integration of the offset print machine and the printer in the same workflow. It in fact enables to send a JDF control file along with a PDF file to the digital print systems with JDF abilitation.
• New Adobe technology: Prinergy Evo 3.1 supports the most recent components for Adobe for running complex PDF files provided by graphics.
It faultlessly processes the files created with the Creative Suite 2.0 software and PDFs in the 1.4 and following versions.
• Easier unlocking of files: the file blocking can be eliminated from the active window of the workflow for inserting input files inside a model with greater flexibility.
• Better running of hot folders: enabling ascertainment as to how long an input file should be kept in the hot folder.
• Digital Kodak Preps setting software: the Prinergy Evo 3.1 software uses components of the new 5.2 version of the Preps software to run automatic imposition.
Gravure imposition
Dalim Software and Hell Gravure Systems announce the release of Helioflow, a revolutionary interface - the result of a technical joint venture between the two concerns - that offer intuitive, automatic gravure imposition tools. Helioflow interfaces with the Hell FormManager system - as well as with third-party MIS systems and production databases - and, by using Dalim Twist premedia engine, automatically creates a cylinder imposition without any manual intervention. Operators, on a web browser, can also receive a complete view of the imposition prior to engraving a cylinder. Thus they can administer, edit, manage, and approve the imposition process on-the-fly, anywhere in the world, reducing errors and speeding turnaround time.
Software solutions
Artwork Systems Group (with its headquarters in Gent, Belgium and Italian office at Segrate, MI) recently proposed a series of new features at the main sector fairs. Among these we cite the new Nexus 8.3 version, the new Odystar 2.5 version for prepress workflow management; PA:CT (Packaging:Certified Technology), for secure, trackable PDF processing in packaging applications; Neo, for quick and efficient editing of native PDF files; Concentric Screening™, a new halftone dot technology; and WebWay 4.0, for Internet collaboration with remote users.
• In particular, Nexus is the “workflow” solution for the label, packaging, offset, flexo and rotogravure sector capable of running the automation of preprint processes associated with ArtPro and safely dialoguing with the peripherals present on the market: CTF and CTP, color printers. Nexus in fact was born out of an idea of integrating the peripherals present in a company.
• Odystar in turn is “the PDF workflow” on Macintosh platform that enables an increase in productivity and automation in the preprint section. Based on Mac OS X platform, Odystar integrates easily with “third party” products in a single workflow solution.
• Last but not least, Artwork is proud to announce that its new offices in Gent, have been declared officially open last September by Mr. Yves Leterme, Minister-President for the Flemish Government.
